Default Questions about mods

I have been away from SH3 and SubSim for about 4 years. After looking around the Downloads area, a few questions pop up.

1. I have GWX 3.0 (1 EXE and 7 BIN files) which show "modified" on 9/14/11. Is the GWX Gold edition, in the Bonus DL section, different from this?

2. Did my GWX download require a donation at the time I downloaded it, way back then? If so I should already be a donor? Mostly curious as I have no problem making another donation to keep the place running.

3. I see a lot of messages at the GWX Gold DL page from people having issues being able to download it after making a donation. Is this an ongoing issue.

4. What is the difference in the JSGME "Blitzkrieg" edition? Is there some advantage? If so I'll try and find it somewhere else, as the download link takes me to mediafire and the "download" button there wants to install some crap "download manager" and eventually locks up my system.

Now the fun begins...checking all my old mods to see if they are up-to-date! I think it will just be easier to download them again and avoid any confusion.

Thanks gang

Here is what I see:
After clicking the download button a pop-up window opens and immediately minimizes to the taskbar. But it keeps blinking which stops me from lowering the taskbar and getting to the Windows download manager (seen at the bottom in orange). You will notice that the taskbar button is called "open software updater"...last time it was "open download manager". Either way, my computer eventually locks up solid and needs a hard reboot.

My GWX file is 3.0, nowhere is "Gold" mentioned, so I will make a donation and get the Gold version.

Just click on the window for the popup and close it. Then scroll down to the manager button.

GWX 3.0 is the Gold version, no matter what it says. The version you get with a donation is the single-file download - no "7 files + bin".

I can't close it...I right click it and hit "close"...lockup ensues. I will only be using one instance of SH3 so I will just download the "regular" version of JSGME.

I've already deleted my old version of GWX, and I have no problem with a donation to help this site keep running

Thank you all.

You can also get the last and best version of JSGME here at Subsim Downloads.

There may be a high probability of malware on your PC. I have no idea of what your level of PC know-how is so forgive me if I'm telling you stuff you are more than aware of. If you want a free program that will keep your PC free of the malware gremlins please click the link below and click the Free download link:

https://www.malwarebytes.org/

These days I see so many people with clogged up computers that take an age to do anything and perform like old 486's lol, and all from clicking craftily disguised links or videos that install malicious cookies or java applets. Facebook is a good example of a main source of these nasty bits of code and it's ever more important to read everything very carefully to ensure you are clicking the right thing.

Another helpful free program you might want to try is CCleaner, this will clear out redundant files making more space on your HDD and repair your registry if there are any errors or obsolete entries, find it here:

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

Both of these will also help your games run better, if you run them regularly.

Apologies again if I am teaching you to suck eggs, but I hope this helps.

My computer is clean. After 20+ years of building my own systems, I can assure you it is not malware. It is patience (LOL!). If I just let the system sit for awhile it starts working again. I have the JSGME "Blitzkrieg" edition downloaded now.

I have a support question into Subsim. I can't make a donation with anything but Paypal...which isn't going to happen. I don't get the CC option for payment but I'm sure Subsim will figure it out and get back to me.

I have Maxthon (which I did not try, in this case) for World Golf Tour online. I need to keep IE for WaW website, which I plan on rejoining once I get all my mods straight and make sure that SH3/GWX is stable on this new w7 64 bit system.

Hey man, I'm really sorry for the delay in replying. I have lots of excuses, but I won't bore you with them. I've added a subscription to your account, and sent you a PM about donations. Thanks for your patience.
