Default Surface fired torpedoes

Is it at all possible to create surface fired torpedoes. From say a Destroyer or Torpedo Boat?
If not would it be practical to create a Torpedo as if it where a surface vessel. Example it spawns at a certain time and proceeds at 40Knots for 2KM or so then detonates if it strikes a ship or disappears at the end of its waypoint.

O I wish we had air dropped TORPS too.

*ahem* air dropped.......I thought that was only in modern day warfare..... :hmm:

I don't think its possible to do either of those, someone tried to make a mod for the PT Boats but could never get them to work.

The Swordfish torpedoe that damaged Bismarks rudder. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor used many planes with torpedoes to attack the battleships. Midway- the attack by torpedoe planes against the Japanese carriers. Probably many more examples, they were all air dropped.

Sergbuto uses invisible battleship-caliber guns for the AI subs and PT boats' torpedoes. Maybe something similar could be done for aircraft & DD's?

Yes thats true but I dont think he was able to change the rate of fire or the amount of rounds available.

I would assume SHIV will have lots of surface fired torpedoes ..i.e. Jap Long Lance torpedoes ( best in the World).
