Hey all,

Decided to post here to try to get some info since the Indie Sub Games forum is pretty dead.

I've decided to turn my U-boat sim game into a cold war sub sim after seeing how far WoTA has come. Im working hard to model the interior of the USS Nautilus.

Does anyone have any information on her equipment (model numbers, specs etc), as well as drawings (deck layouts, blueprints... anything). There is a TON of pictures on flickr from the floating museum in CT so I can model it all, but its hard to tell where to place everything.

Im hoping to have her pilot-able in a early alpha release within a few months at the most especially if I can get some help. Which brings me to my second point.

Does anyone want to help model her interior? Even the smallest bits? It'd be volunteer work, I could look at possible small payments in a few months time or a small cut of any future sales but mostly just for any sub fanatics that would love to see a cold war era sub sim and fast-track the alpha release.

I know im asking a lot but even just some information from people that know more about her than me (I only know what I can deciper from the museum pictures, the virtual tour and the few videos on youtube about her) you would think the Navy would have released blueprints by now (its been 60 years! Or someone would put in a FOI request (Im canadian and thus cant do so).

Hello, I had a search for you, and didn't find any information besides how big she is below is what I managed to figure out, to be honest here is more information of British nuclear subs than there is of the first nuclear sub.

One pressurized water nuclear reactor producing 15,000 shaft hp to steam turbines driving twin screws, her nuclear fuel capacity is unknown, but because the oxygen supply is estimated several months, It might be around a good few months if not more.

her submerged speed was 16 knots average, she could stay submerged for round 4 months.

I can't even find information on the sister ship the Seawolf.

This is exactly the issue ive run into! Shes floating happily away in CT and yet we have no information on the world wide web and her trillions of websites about the FIRST nuclear powered sub (vehicle even?) in the world.

I've found SOME equipment names from staring until my eyes start to tear up at noisy blurry photos of public photos from the museum. I've emailed 126 vets (about half have no email anymore, and I imagine a good few are on eternal patrol I realized after sending them out)

UHF IFF (ultra high frequency something something somehting) and I got a good picture of the mast position indicator with buships number and EB Div plan No., as well as radar mast lights, collision alarm: 9000-s6504-74055-rev 2 off/on, diving alarm: 9000-s6504-74055-rev 2 off/on, yellow colored alarm (battle stations?) 9000-s6504-74055-rev F off/on, emergency alarm off/on same serial number rev 2 looks like. the high pressure air manifolds youll all see soon enough when I have it done modelled, i got a photo of the xmas trees for the hull openings, vents, floods, valves and hatches, and snorkel ctrl pnl , wayyy too many lights to write, we ghot a mk 19 mod 31 gyro compass contro panel with the mark 24 mod 0 auxillary compass, and of course the AN/WQC-2 communicatinos set sonar with RT-67G/WDG-2 receiver-transimtiter sonar lots of buttons lights and stuff, another picture that has more fuses for the periscope illuminatinom, edm leak detector and a few others, general announcing control panel has at least 30/40 switches and some rotating switches the AF amplifier type IC/BGL-2S, the loudspeakers are dynamic type LS-305/S1C made by Jensen manufacturing co contract no. N126-090805, The nav center "radio direction finder set - an/brd-6b, a loran c receiver set - an/wpn-4 and a loran a receiver set - an/upn-2a, manual plot on the mk-19 plotter, the icecream machine was made by scottsman,

and lastly the scopes and sensors from aft to fwd in the mast
snorkel, IFF/UHF omi-directional antenna, VLF loop, BRD-6B detections and determines directino of enemy radio/radar transmissions, BRA-19 retractable antenna for transmission and receivning medium and high frequency radio signals ESM/DF electronic support measures detects and terminse directors of enemy radio/radar transmissions, BPS-5A general and tactical search radar for surface searrch, torpedo firing control, and detection of low flying aircraft, BRA-9 retractable antenna for transmitting and receiving medium and high frequency radio transmissions, type 2f perisscope any height attack scope for daytime use, type 8B scope can be used at niht includes internal radar radio and esm stub-antenna, at-441/MRC emergency whip antnna for med/high freq. radio signals navaid beacon light the ships bell and the ships signal whistle.

Phew. Thats all the info I have on her after about 20 straight hours of scouring the net and straining my eyes. At least I finally got it all down on paper somewhere.
