To answer your question: No!
How is this child supposed to understand the long reaching consequences of decisions? I doubt she'll fully grasp how to run a town financially and how to deal with political powers and business owners of the area.

Surprised that the job requirements don't mention anything that would prohibit a minor from that position.

It probably won't be fatal. In the unlikely event she actually gets the job, her actual position will be more of an "idea person". The assistants and bureaucrats will be doing all the real huffing and pushing. If a really dangerous idea comes up, the bureaucracy would be able to slow it down until she can be taken out of office.

I'm quite confident that next time there will be. Now they have to treat her equally with her adult competitors. Otherwise this will be discrimination by age which is illegal although chances of court forcing her selection is essentially nil.

Actually, if she spends her time playing with staff in the garden and does nothing, she would be the far lesser evil, compared to those many active "doers", "managers", "activists". A poltician who promises his voters that for the coming four years he will leave them all alone, do nothing, will not pester them - actually that would be an real alternative from the usual political party's pest worth to be considered for voting for.

But to would be right those party's that would give such a politicians a bloody spanking. So that is even more unrealistic than the prospect of getting a 10-year old mayor.
