Default Earliest snowfall on record in Carolinas

I was up in Jones Gap backcountry camping, good thing it was last week!

http://www.drroyspencer.com/2014/11/...n-columbia-sc/

Columbia, SC has just experienced their earliest snow in 125 years of weather records, beating the Nov. 9, 1913 earliest snow record by 8 days. Current South Carolina weather shows it’s still snowing in Greenville, SC.

The earliest snowfall I can recall here in Salt Lake City was in 1972, when it snowed on Halloween. This year we're having a typical Autumn which means that right now it's 68/19, with an expected low tonight of 40/4, but tomorrow night it's supposed to snow, with a high only reaching 48/9 and a low of 32/0.

Yea, had several friends in the mountains posting pics. We got a few flakes, but mostly rain.

Warmest October here in Germany since ~130 years.

I visited my parents by bicycle on Saturday (has been a holiday over here), in thin trousers and T-shirt - it was around 22°C. Felt like spring. I'm less than 60 car-minutes from the Dutch border. It's early November now...

The whole year has been warm and last winter extremely mild. I stopped heating 6-7 weeks earlier than normal. Have not yet begun to heat again - while should be heating already since mid-late Septembre.

Here in the UK we've had snow as early as September and as late as June....only July and August are almost guaranteed snow-free.

And something very atypical to report: over here, early Novembre, North-West Germany - we have kind of an invasion by mosquitos. They should be all gone since severla weeks by now, they use to disappear from mid-September on, and by mid-Octobre should not longer be there. But since a couple of days it is impossible to open the window without getting four or five guests after five minutes. That is per day as many of them than I usually find in all summer in my flat. Annoying.

Also, they should not sting anymore this time of the year. But they do, and with great enthusiasm. Can provide multiple photographic evidence, if needed.

Parents live 7 km away, on the other side of the city. Same there.

Well, our forecast fizzled. Now they're saying it's going to be somewhat warmer and we should expect rain rather than snow.

Warmest Halloween ever recorded here.

Last cut of the grass four years ago was October, two years ago it was December. Hoping that isn't the case this year.

Putting a dent in the fossil fuel...

I've been running the coal stoker since mid October.

Winter is gonna be a wild one this year methinks.
