Default 2014 Ryder Cup

Couldn't help bu notice there wasn't a thread based on one of Americas most important sporting events

Quote:
Europe completed their mission in the singles to win the 40th Ryder Cup 16½-11½ against the United States at Gleneagles.

Europe have now won eight of the last 10 Ryder Cups, while the US have not won an away match since 1993.

I'm not a big golf fan but I do enjoy watching the closing stages of the major tournaments.

A different atmosphere as well. Crowds cheer more, players are more animated-into it. I did not watch much of it, but
have a son who enjoys the game and did.

The Europeans have been dominant for sure

Point well taken! We'll just have to content ourselves with that other cup we stole from the Commonwealth- fer now! We can't win em all and it spreads the wealth around

Glad that we have wikipedia to tell me what the Ryder Cup was about.

Wasn't that the team/crew of 24 with only one US national and a further one with dual nationality?

I seem too recall a certain famous Brit yachstsman being called upon to turn the teams performances around in a rather dramatic fashion

Default Never quit on yer dreams

YUP! I left YOU that open and righteous dig knowing..ORACLE is an international firm My hero in all sailing is still Sir Thomas Lipton, a fellow Glaswegian, and his famous 'never give up' Shamrock I-V series boats! He created the Lipton tea brand and was the most persistent challenger in the history of the America's Cup. Shamrock V: refitted, wood hulled and still going after her 1930 launch!!! What the America's Cup should still look like IMHO! Oracle's CEO Ellison, by comparison, need's more class!Edit: the good comes with the bad: all boats can use any equipment; sails, designs, etc and aren't restricted to country-of-origin as formerly...that would include the crews too I suppose-and a better race competatively! Edit: that guy on the front end...that's my job too!
