Sweden election: Social Democrats may regain power

Quote:
Swedes are voting in a parliamentary election, with the latest opinion polls suggesting the Social Democrats may regain power.
The left-leaning party narrowly led the governing centre-right government.
Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, who took office in 2006, has won praise for how he dealt with the economic crisis.

Has now been and voted, and it looks to be a power shift, anyway according to various surveys.

There will be a Social Democratic-led government, with elements of the Green Party and possibly leftist.

Looks like Sweden is entering a period of political chaos, due to the result of the election and the "refusal to coop with each other" V-leftis will not coop with S-labourparty a.s.o

Hardly earth shattering news for anyone outside of the small envelope

Last elections in 2010, had SD about 6 percent, and now it doubled.

I remember a guest in SVT Valvaka who said that if the other established parties ignore the important issue that made SD win so much, SD will become even bigger.

As Mona Sahlin former chairman for the Labourparty said
"I do not accuse every person among these 13 % for being racist or Nazis they voted for SD for a reason and it is time for the established party to take care of that"

And they are both true

Such a party would not get that much if everything was OK.

There is a widespread discontent within the population, how certain issues such as refugee policy must be solved when only SD has had it in their party platform ahead of elections.

The left parties gained a measly 0,6% this election. The reason that the Social Democrats will form government, is that prime minister Reinfeldt promised to resign if his center coalition needed support from the Sweden Democrats to stay in power.

A couple of weeks before the election, prime minister Reinfeldt held a speech where he said that there could be no reforms in the coming years, because we need to allocate vast portions of our budget to pay for the costs caused by refugees arriving from Syria.

To put this in numbers, it's 90,000 muslims arriving each year to a country with a population of 9.6 million. After last years riots in muslim areas of Stockholm, Växjö, Linköping etc, this message might not have been a vote winner.

In other words: Reinfeldt handed 1/4th of his voters to the Sweden Democrats on a silver plate.

(For the record, I don't support the Sweden Democrats, even if the past years have made me an anti islamist. Sorry for the previous opposition Skybird, but finally I see things your way.)
