Default Wait for it...

Unsuspecting bystanders didn't know the Blue Angels were doing an airshow... and didn't count how many planes were on the team either, until......

I've been caught off guard by the Blue Angels and the Snowbirds before almost like this (in fact most recently - just a week and a half ago) and it's always a cool thing

A similar thing happened at an airshow I was at, since the area behind us was all tall houses no-one could see the Hawker Hunter until she screamed overhead and out to sea. The announcer came on with a wry comment of "I thought I'd keep quiet about that one, give you all a surprise."

I have been buzzed at airshows too, but it wasn't from airplanes.

Meanwhile at Waddington:

And, of course, no fly past would be complete without the howler itself:

Reminds me of a roadtrip through New york once.

Going through Index, NY I think, I thought I was coming upto a T intersection, I would be crossing the T. No stop signs or anything. But there was an sign that said "Low flying Aircraft". My buddy and I were confused, as we looked around we couldnt see an airport.

As we got closer, we realized the "road" didnt actually intersect, it was a runway, separated by about 12" of gravel from the road.

Way down the other end were some hangers.

Had an unexpected fly past of two Spitfires this afternoon. Nice.

With the Reno disaster (photo just before impact) and the single crash one town over at nearby Travis AFB-one month ago (Privateer saw it in person) I prefer not to wait for it. I still recollect this gem at Rammstein AFB...perhaps stricter regulation is in order.
