Default Super long load times

I tried searching for this issue, and how to resolve it, but found nothing. The issue is one that has been with this game for a long time, but now the load times are excruciatingly long. It is when it says "Synchonizing saved games from server", even though I think the game sync is disabled. It takes something in the range of 20 minutes to get past this. If you all know a thread here that deals with this, or a quick fix if any, I really would appreciate it. It makes trouble shooting problems unnecessarily time consuming.

Put uplay in offline mode, its the star beside the minimize and maximize button. Game will still work but it will not sync with uplay cloud stopping this problem

I had exactly the same problem with Uplay taking 20 minutes to update.

I delete the saved dat file that is in the Log File before each game and I have not had a problem since.

I have put a Log File short cut on my desktop so it easy to do.

Wow I tried it, to no effect. I got the thing teling me I was now off line and would not be able to access features, but when the game loaded up there was that message "Please wait until saved games are syncronized from server..." The one I just put offline.
I will try that thing about deleting that file now.

Where is that save log or whatever located. Is it in the sh5 folder in my documents?

It is in your main Silent Hunter 5 Folder called Logs after the Data Folder.

If you have never deleted before you are likely to see all your saves.

That is ok you can delete these .dat files.

Put a folder shortcut on your desktop and then you can delete as you go along.

The 20 minute problem I had was at the beginning when you press on the SH5 icon.

Uplay would kick in and start to up date.

I always play offline.

You only need to be online if you are playing with others.

When the game loads now I still get the box about synchronising with the server.

I have never had a problem with that.

My game takes around 6 minutes to load from pushing the SH5 icon.

The more mods and type of mods you have will depend on your game loading time.

I was told at the time that deleting those files would not make any difference, but it certainly solved my problem.

The other place you can see your saved games is in Documents\SH5\data\cfg

Have a look in the folders and you can see your other saves.

I agree THEBERBSTER, its the mods that take the time. Mine takes about 3-4 minutes as well.

I think I found the issue. It would seem that my machine itself is failing. Wonderful to find out though.

The length of time during that "waiting to synchro..." message is dependant upon the amount of saves you have, at least for me it is. Keeping your saves down to a minimum reduces that time significantly. Based on experience and wanting to have options to fall back on in case of corrupt saves, I keep a lot of saves, so that longer synchro time is worth the reward for me.

Nice one Peter! I did not know that at all and wouldn't have given it a thought considering those dat files are miniscule. I'm going to try that too. Thanks for that info!

Since upgrading to the new versions of mods: OHII v2.5, TDW UIs v740, etc., my load from bunker to save game is usually minimum 2 minutes +. It's a large difference to what it was before, but I accept it for what it is. Longer than that would be an excuse to take many naps. lol

Yea, I have little to no problem with how long the games themselves load. It is the damned "syncing with server" before I even get to the menu screen. It is more so annoying when I have switched the thing off line. It is the case of doing things "correctly" and getting the exact same results as if you did nothing. Just frustrating.

I agree with you pythos.

IIRC, I may have even asked about this in a thread years ago myself and couldn't understand the logic of being offline and still syncing saves. It didn't make sense then and doesn't make sense now, but I accepted it since we all have to go through it.

Cheers!

By copying your saves to a different file on your hard drive every so often, it may be possible to keep the game saves in SH 5 to a minimum. You could always replace the current saves with your back up copy. ( I am guessing and I have not figured out this quote stuff yet)

Got the problem with the machine sorted. I deleted those files but still encountered the long sync phase, even with U-play offline. Then when I went to delete the saves from the session, I find that the old saves that I had deleted were right back. How could that happen if game sync was off?
