My son and I wanted to hook up my laptop to the new 40" LED Insignia TV we just recently purchased for the master bedroom and play SH4 on it.
Well we did it last night. Cool as hell, great graphics. Don't know if it would handle a game faster than SH4 like racing or flying games. From what I understand when you go from monitors to TVs there a huge drop in refresh rate. Doesn't seem to be a problem with SH4 thought. This is going to look so cool when I get a system built to play SH5. Now here's my only problem (so far). I have a 17" widescreen HD laptop and the game plays with a full picture from edge to edge of the laptop screen. The TV however is giving me a 2" black border all the way around the game screen when I play the game. My screen resolution for the laptop is set to its widest at 1600x900. What can I do to get the tv on full screen?

See if your laptop has an hdmi output socket. If you do, then connect with a hdmi cable and you have full screen high def.

HDMI is the way to go.
![]() You only need to check that you have the right refresh rate selected for the monitor. I doubt that a laptop would have an HDMI output. But you never know.

Yes. I am running it off the HDMI port on the side of my laptop. Both my work and personal laptop have HDMI. If I have time tonight I'm going to hook up my work laptop and see what it does. If it's full screen on the the TV than I'll now it's my personal laptop but if it the same with both laptops than it's the T.V.

My TV is an LED with a 120 ghz refresh rate. My problem is not in the refresh rate but in the screen resolution or aspect ratio. It does not fill out the entire screen on my 40" TV but it does on my laptop. Most newer laptops today have HDMI.
