A vet who was very troubled was found dead in upstate New York after emailing his father telling him he was leaving everything he owned to him. A sad tale indeed. |

Tragic. Sad for his family.

It would seem that is the way he planned to go. Just walk into a deep freeze and fall asleep.

Hey, I've climbed that mountain.
Not to sound dark, but he died with a beautiful view. It's where I'd want to go to die....... |

My plans If I'm ever terminally ill.
When the last day I'm still able to get up there and a cure is nowhere near my time, I'll take a walk to the top of the hill overlooking my house, climb the rock on top of it and overdose on something painless but deadly. As soon as the weather clears I'll go up there and post photos ![]() |

Mountain top, or sailing off into the sunset. It sure beats a nursing home IMO.

Fifty weather balloons w/helium tied to a lawn chair would be a good send off too.

On a serious note, what about the people that have to deal with the body? Carrying a rotting, stinking corpse down a mountain isn't very fun nor would finding one while out hiking with the wife and kids.
Now while I understand and agree with a persons absolute right to decide when to end their own lives I think it's very rude to do it in such a way that requires a lot of clean up afterwards.

At least this bloke had the decency to do it in a deep freeze. I don't however condone the actions he took as several search parties had to both deal with the body but also go looking for him in the worst winter conditions in a while.
