I still remember seeing what was left of that tree in his rear ranchero area...very lucky it didn't crush the Ponderosa

Well I'll listen to him, he wouldn't make the same mistake twice, surely?

I did hear rumours on the build-up to Jude that the models had another storm in the works for Saturday, no doubt the Diana Express will scream that the UK is about to be submerged by tsunamis and force 2000 gales.

Ah, yes, here we are:
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/439...ess_Newsletter

Can't see it being as hefty as Jude but it might be enough to bring down some trees and structures already weakened by the storm. We'll see, if Jude was anything to go by none of the models would actually agree with each other even as close as 12 hours before impact, so anything is possible.

Had to laugh though, on the way back from London we'd stopped at the South Mimms services for lunch, so I took a look at the satellite image of what was going on, and the advert that popped up was, well I had to grab a screenshot on the phone.

EDIT: Also, in terms of storms and their occurances, a chap at this blog - http://xmetman.wordpress.com/2013/10...les-1973-2013/ has put together a nice list of storms that have affected the UK from the period of 1973-2013. Here's the list:

Certainly, if you were to go back even further you'd find historical storms, usually around the October period, which have caused great damage. My 3rd great-grandfather was a fisherman at Eyemouth in 1881, he became one of the victims of the Eyemouth disaster - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyemouth_disaster
At least now we have warning, some may say that it's overhyped, but honestly when it comes to the elements the adage 'Better safe than sorry' is never more true.

LOL

Next one rumoured to be less powerful but wider ranging and lasting a little longer.

@ Oberon interesting looking at the storm records you posted I had a look at the weather station I use for my sailing weather and noticed it just topped your chart at mean average of 56.5 kts and max gust of 70 kts on 28/10/13.
Compared to storms other countries get its still a minnow but its a pretty big one for the UK.

Bert.
