I have SH4 fresh install with the 1.5 added then these mods:
TMO 2.5 RSRD Patch Changing this question because I think I was able to understand and appreciate the spirit of TMO and RSRD. The only question I have left is can I reduce the armor of the AI planes and/or make my AA gunners more accurate? I realize I shouldn't be fighting aircraft, but I have plane after plane swooping over me and have yet to get a kill, either myself or my gunner. I tried to pick the best rated gunner.. Today A FLAMING KATE came in to strafe.. I thought maybe we hit him? But I think not, he was like this from a distance.. so I expected this plane to crash into the water.. he looked like a Kamakazee.. but NOPE.. he proceeded to strafe, loop, strafe, loop, etc.. over and over again, ALL WHILE FLAMING AND SMOKING LIKE CRAZY LOL... I realize this was probably some stock bug in the game but I would just like to tone it all down a bit. Is this possible? Any quick changes to either the aircraft or even the ships to give me a fighting chance? I'm NOT good.. yes I want some realism.. but too much is just too much for me. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Jeff Last edited by jscharpf; 10-27-13 at 12:11 PM. |

Aircraft were always avoided whenever possible. Even friendly aircraft were avoided because they were just that dangerous. Enemy aircraft even more so- if they didn't sink, or do serious damage to your sub, they were sure to make the report that would send merchants scurrying out of the area and destroyers into it. There is NO upside to taking on aircraft as a sub commander.
Having said all of that- good luck to you. ![]()

smoke and flames are signs of damage points but they have no affect on the planes abilities so its still going to act as though its undamaged.
all the smoke and flames do is give you the ability to see them better. I don't know if ducimus decreased the AA damage or increased plane armor but his goal was to make it so difficult to fight aircraft that you would avoid it at all cost which is what happened in reality. if you want to play the way you have been doing then you can try my upgraded guns mod and it should fix the trouble you are having shooting them down. |

Webster,
Does the gun mod only improve the deck gun or does it also improve the AA gun? It doesn't mention the AA gun (or I didn't see that link). <EDIT> Oops I see it now ![]() Jeff |
