Default Anybody wanna test this music mod?

Hi folks. First time poster, long time reader.

I've been browsing the site but never registered...I finally did.

I've got a music mod that I've put together. Right now I'm calling it SH3 Heroes Music Mod beta. (How original, right?)

I think there is another music mod out there but all the links I've found are broken. I put together my own and I'm curious if anyone wants to try it out. Let me know what they think?

I think it sounds great but maybe others want to get their opinion on it. The score has big brass and drums. The music is from several decades ago, so it has an old school symphony sound. It makes the game feel like an old war movie.

As a side note, I usually play without the music because it would get repetitive after awhile. But this new score kinda creates a new vibe and makes the game feel new again. So try it out, let me know what you think? Is it too loud? Too cheesy? Maybe a bad idea?

By the way, when I said old war movie I meant "John Williams" -ish.

I didn't mean old like black and white old.

DBSM does not affect the in-game music at all. This is because the original was created for SH2, which had no in-game music, and I didn't add any in because I prefer to feel like I'm in real life rather than a movie, and of course real life doesn't have background music playing all the time.

That's just the way I prefer to play, but no, DBSM can't be the problem there.

Check your Sound folder to see if there's anything in it.

The mod is not JSGME ready. Check the edit in post 2 for the correct file structure.

Yes I know, I first wanted to play the game again with the original music score before I tried this mod to be able to compare. @ Sailor Steve, I normally play with music off too and yes, I have the standard files in my music folder.

That leaves me wondering what the problem might be.

Can anyone tell me in what instances I should hear the music? At a crash dive command, when sighting a ship, after firing a torpedo?

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback.

There should be music audible for every event in the game. Even when you are cruising. I made this mod for SH3 clean install and Grey Wolves mod and it worked there too. However, because it isn't accessible with JSGME, you have to manually drop it into your music folder. It's a hassle, I know. But for right now, it's in the making.

I'm not sure why some people can't hear it. Are you sure you guys also added the music.cfg file that is included?

I will try making it workable in JSGME. My apologies but that why I hoped you guys would test it out. Thanks again, and I will work on this. Then when I have a updated version, I will give you guys a better version.

Feedback appreciated.

p.s. I don't know what mods would prevent it from working, still looking into it. Thanks

Default UPDATE

Okay, try this link:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/0e...c_Mod_beta_v2.

Just drop this into your mod folder.

This is made for JSGME. As for the mod conflicts, I think if there is a mod that is a sound mod, it might conflict with this mod. So if you can't hear the music, try removing sound mods.

When I made this mod, it worked for a clean install and also for Grey Wolves. I haven't tried it with other mods. I was hoping you guys could test it again and see if it works.

Apologies once again, and thanks.

Okay, it turns out there was a problem with my original music which is why I didn't hear it. I used your mod through JSGME and now I did have music. It works fine and it adds atmosphere but like Sailor Steve said I prefer to play without music because it drowns out other sounds in the game. I disabled music again but your mod worked flawless. Thanks again for the effort.
