Best Graphics you can get to a Laptop

What is the best graphic card you can get to a Laptop?

I have only 64 Mb graphics now and can find out about the rest.

Some day in the future I want to buy a new Laptop, however it has to have eniugh graphics so I can play SH5 and other games that you can get today.

You know, if all you need is to play Sh5, my integrated Intel HD 4000 does pretty decently.

But if you want the absolute best, check these out:

The key for laptop gaming is not so much the graphix chip - though that does have some bearing - but how the graphics system handles memory.

Laptops use what is known as "integrated" graphics, meaning there is no graphics card you can change out when you need to upgrade. Because of this, most laptops share system memory with the graphics system. Say you have 2 Gigs of Ram - but the laptop may "section off" a section of that memory just for use by the video chip. The problem is, this implementation tends to lack efficiency.

If your looking at laptops now or in the near future, look for one that states it has "dedicated video memory". This means that the video system has a physically separate memory system.

1GB of memory is great, provide its dedicated. Then a 4GB laptop with a decent / good CPU and your set....

I have tried to play SH5 but I had a lot of lag and I presume it has something to do with my graphic card

According to minimum requirements needed for this game is 512 Mb

so I have another question. Can I increase my graphic card so it has more than this 64 Mb. I don't know if it already have some dedicated rams.

Hope you understand. I really want to play SH 5 and some other of my games, however due to my low standard laptop it's not possible and I haven't got the money to buy a decent computer/laptop

If it's not possible I just have to wait....

So the GM45 chipset that you use isn't very suitable for modern games. However, if the games you play aren't much more graphically demanding than silent hunter 5, the 4th generation (aka, haswell) Intel Core processor's integrated graphics are more than enough for your gaming needs.

If all you are trying to play is just silent hunter, even an ultrabook with low voltage integrated graphics can do just fine, you have nothing to worry about.

Mapuc, there may be a way to increase the video memory.

Go into the BIOS on bootup and see if there are any setting for the video adapter related to memory. Some BIOS makers allow you to "set" the amount of memory the integrated chip can access. Up that to as high as it allows (up to 512 or even 1GB) and see if it helps.

You must be mistaken, the "Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family" is the g45 chipset, aka this: http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datasheet/320122.pdf

Its a vista era direct x 10 chipset designed to go with the core 2 duo family.

The Haswell Core I line is MUCH, MUCH better. In fact, the intel HD 5000 should be able to outperform the Xbox 360 and PS3, whereas the g45 (what he currently has) is approximately PSP level.

I'm not that much into computers. I do not dare to touch the BIOS as CaptainHaplo suggested earlier

and I'm a totally newbie regarding graphic cards.

I guess I have to use what I have right now and hope for Miss luck smiling extra at me next time and let me win big.

well some laptops have dedicated cards they are often a corporate model like my dell M6400 (these are often used for modeling) or on a so called gaming laptop. the best graphics card you can get though is the 780M IIRC

Change your power settings to Performance too, rather than the stock Balanced (iirc). (Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings (W7))
