Default Fireball SE, Osmos

I have found this little arcade gem for my tablet. Plays fantastic, and gets along without shooting at all, nevertheless needs skill, reflexes, good assessment. I love it:

It reminds me a bit of (and gives me the feeling of) Völkerball/Dodgeball (beside Volleyball my most favourite ballgame at school since nobody could rival me in that, I almost always was the last man standing and when I was about to shoot instead of passing, they almost panicked for they knew what was coming for them )

A bit older, yet an innovative game that is both relaxing and exciting at the same time, is Osmos. It is easy to underestimate the difficulty by the laid-back looks of it - it can quickly become extremely difficult.

I have found Fireball to be highly addictive. It is the game mechanism from gravity Wars, but looks smoother and better (imo), and like so often, the ingenius design stems from its simple, straight concept. But it is hard. Very hard if you want highscores worth to be called that.

Here is a master taking the helm. 25 million points. Meh - I survive for one m minute at best. Watch it in HiRes, full screen. Maybe you then see the beauty in the simple game design. It's ingenious.

I have checked the other games by the developer, Radiangames. Almost all of them arel available for PC, Mac, iOS and Android, costing 4 euros for PC, and 1 1,80 Euros for Android. None of the ideas is new, but the implementation is smooth, very well done, colourful, flawless. If you like Arcade games, this is your chance for supergreat and cheap deal!

Some Videos:

Its much like Fireball, but with a shootin g option. And what a shooting it is! A shooting frenzy, total, utmost chaos around you. You either panic immediately, or sooner or later experience an expansion of your consciousness when you enter a surreal state of ind and feeling the "flow". For some reason it makes me hysterically giggling. I still have not found out why. I use the cheap Android version. Amazing what Android can do when having a good hardware.

Another title reminding a bit of the first two games, but this time with no empty arena, by a maze-styled playingf field, making this heavily similiar than the old Gauntlet-arcade-game. Gameplay is very smnooth and enjoyable again, and the presentation is like Tron, with more colours. Very colourful indeed! Got it for one Euro for Android, and no regret.

I do not know this myself, just give the video to illustrate the insane colourfulness and visual overkill. I never was into this kind of game, the game principle I mean - it is like Space Defenders, but your ship can switch top and bottom of the screen, evading enemy fire that way and fighting the enemy from two sides.

Finally, they also have two puzzles, one of which looks a bit like Tetris, but is not, but is a spin-off, and one that I do not like too bad. The shapes are lines and blocks only, and you can slide one of the falling ones or one of the already dropped by as many columns as you want. Tetris always bored me, so I never played it even when the game jumped on the market and had everybody talking about it twenty years ago. This one however has me doing a match occasionally, and I like it.

Considering that the games are extremely cheap and even cheaper when using them on Android, these really are steals if you are looking for some nice arcade stuff.

It appears as if Radiangames is a small indie studio that with great regularity claims highest critic s praise and top rankings with its releases. I assume they are more popular on the mobile market than on PC.

One word on Osmos. It is not by Radiangames, and not available for PC so far. I have found it to feature many levels that are real puzzles, with other more being races, or arena-type of last-man-standing duels. The apparent mild temper of this title on which you may conclude when just watching it being played, is misleading a bit. There is quite some originality and tricky problems in it. They do not point out for no reason that this game can be hard to have its levels solved. You would not imagine that when just watching a film on it. What I like is that it lacks the Radiangames' frantic hectic.
