Two British teens attacked with acid

2 young British teenage girls, ( who volunteered at a school in Zanzibar) were walking down a street when suddenly someone threw acid in their faces. Both suffered burns on their faces, chest and back. Pretty nasty thing to do to two young women only trying to help at a local school.

Hope they catch whomever did it, and throw acid on them, but wait at least 2 hours before you ask them how it feels!

The attack on the women came at the end of the Muslim holy month of fasting of Ramadan, and as people began to celebrate the Eid holiday.

Funny how you never hear about Muslim attacks like this in American mass media. Kinda’ like the way they don’t cover black on white violence either. One could argue that its not PC, i.e., politically correct. I argue that it is indeed PC, i.e., political cowardice.

That notwithstanding, for the evangelical Mohametans are a tough crowd. One has to be absolutely firmly grounded in the doctrine of Scripture. One can not bridge with Mohametans dogmatically; such bridge can only be established on an intellectual foundation. Mohametans perceive themselves to be intellectually superior to all faiths. Their tolerance of christians is predicated on they being "followers of The Book" to which the Q'uran commands them to give deference.

Evangelizing Mohametans is neither beginner nor intermediate level work. Even expert evangelists need to have a solid understanding of Muslim culture, protocol, ettiquette and decorum. Failing any of that, their altruism, good intentions and expert knowlege of doctrine will be worthless.

Scripture says evangelists should be "wise as serpents but harmless as doves." Offending the Mohametan will result in absolute failure in one's efforts in spreading the Gospel. In a worst case scenario it can result in the loss of the evangelists life.

Evangelism aside, this Jewish group may be on a purely secular, i.e., humanitarian mission, but the issue regarding cultural norms can never be minimalized in a predominant Muslim populace / society.

The islands are mainly Muslim, with some three percent of the 1.2 million people Christian.

Might explain why, as I'm sure they were not dressed properly according to the Muslim way of thinking.

It happens to women in places like Pakistan every single day the local women.

You kinow something Stealhead, if you carry out an attack like this, no matter where in the world you do it, who do you brag about it to?

"Wow, guess what I did today? I snuck up on a couple of women and threw acid in their face!! Am I a tough guy or what!"

Personally, I couldn't do it, let alone brag about it.

I am not following how this relates to my post.I simply stated that this kind of acid attack against women is very common in many parts of the world.I am not in any way agreeing with such actions or trying in anyway to explain why someone would do it.

I was merely stating that these kinds of attacks targeting women are common in some parts of the world. Of course typically the victims are not Europeans or North Americans maybe people will want to do something about it if they realized that such attacks are common against these 3rd world women.Probably not though.

Well, I'm just trying to understand the mentallity of someone who would do this, not a judgement of what you wrote. Younger guys who like to fight, usually go around bragging whose butt they kicked, mostly against other guys. Vary rarely do men brag about knocking women about, so if you are involved in throwing acid in some girls face, who do you brag about that to? Other guys would think that they are candy arses for going after women, so what kind of sick mentallity thinks this is ok?

Tja. Nasty it may be, however I cannot help the impression that they - and many others - go to these dark countries with pretty much of naivety in their hearts as well. And naivety it obviously is when the one girl sings and gets attacked for that - and then asks on Twitter whether that is normal.

"In some countries, it is, young lady. And you were in one of them. You should have learned about that place before you went there."

I am sure that no tourist in the next holiday season will care for this event again, once he has to chose for his holiday destination and his own dreams and holiday expectations are affected when being asked why he even goes to such countries in the first. So as usual I think there is quite some hypocrisy involved if now the headlines are made over these two girls. Same about the Norwegian woman in Dubai recently that got sentenced for getting raped. What do people expect when going to certain countries?

Simple advise, dear boys and girls: do not move to countries ruled by barbary.
