Default Massive prison break in Iraq

Nothing but bad news coming out of Iraq lately (don't want to turn this into a political rant over Iraq war either-start a different thread if you want to go there)

Bombing after bombing has been going on, over 3,000 killed this year so far. I keep thinking of just how incompetant the Iraqi police and military are in stopping this. Imagine this going on in a country in the West, most would respond with a massive influx of security forces, but Iraq doesn't seem to be able to do anything about it.

Now, the militants have broken into a prison and have let 100's of militants, not just 10 or 20, but hundreds of them including members of AQ, to escape.

Feel sorry for the average Iraqi, who have to try and get through a day without being blown up!

I feel worse for my family having to bury someone, because of this.

Not assigning blame, nor starting a crapstorm, but wiring up 105. shells to blow up water convoys is pretty crappy.

Considering our rules of engagement is so outside typical warfare in this engagement.

Thanks for your info, but I attended the funeral.

So uhh, yeah.

He may have been someone I grew up with.

But thanks!

My mistake

Marines never ever served in Iraq?

What are you getting at, or are you trying to troll me?

I"m not talking about what happened during the Iraq wars, I'm talking about today. Last time I checked there are NO US Marines or combat troops in Iraq today, unless they are stationed at the embassy.

I get it! Sorry Eddie.

Better late than never.

I see the Iraqui officials in the same vein as the mexican Military and police, most of whom either bribed by, or intimidated by the cartels.

Sure they have beaming smiles, but they are all self serving sharks, looking for a piece of the free American money pie.

At least the drug lords always kill the enemy, the middlle easterners try to milk money from them while killing them.

I have feelings in this statement, but I see nothing validating about Iraq, the people who let it get the way it is, or the government who perpetuated it, and used us, at the cost of credibility and lives.

We shoulda left them with Saddam.

They deserve him and his sons, IMHO

Nobody mentioned the second prison attack that occurred at the same time they were hitting Abu Ghraib. No prisoners escaped from that one.

I thought this'd happened before but I was wrong - at least about it being Iraq. In Afghanistan 1000 escaped in 2008 and nearly 500 in 2011.

I get where you're coming from eddie - day to day life for the average Jamail Bloggs must be harsh and scary.

It is being suggested the prison guards aided the escape bid.

Could you imagine this type of thing happening in the UK Jim? Bombs going off in British cities, rescue personnel show up, take the wounded to hospitals, bury the dead, they hose down the street to get rid of the blood, a few policemen show up, then its back to business as usual. Meanwhile, guards at Britains largest prison, help the inmates escape! And nobody does anything about it.

Then a few days later, it happens all over again. Such is life in Iraq.

Most definitely not and if I did that would probably lead to some serious consideration of what country to move to.
