I've done a search with the search function and no luck. I wanted to find out if there is any documentation\guides\threads\etc on editing and making sense of the menu.ini config file within SH 3. I would assume that running GWX would have a menu.ini cfg file different to the stock game? Also, i remember a few months ago someone posted a thread about the menu.ini cfg file and to give people more of an insight into its contents. For example, is the 'high libht campaign' tga edited through the menu.ini cfg file? I understand that the above-mentioned tga file is linked with the campaign02 tga, and when both are loaded ingame, the high libht tga positions the click-through options in the campaign screen. What does the menu.ini file NOT do? Am i correct in assuming that the menu.ini cfg file houses positioning of sub menu buttons like the campaign screen, where you can choose options, u-boat, exit to main menu, etc, font colours, font positioning.... Example: [G04 I5] Name=Logs Type=1031;Stat bmp array ItemID=0x4000003 ParentID=0x4000000 Pos=147,507,246,383 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/data/high libht campagne.tga Crop 0=0,0.429688,0.240234,0.498047 MatFlags=0x1 TexFmt=0x9 Drag=false BmpState=1 NeedFocus=true SelOne=true IdGroup=0 StatesColors=0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF ToolTipText=53 No idea what all that means Thanks in advance. |

The Menu.ini Guide is really helpful. I've hacked menu_1024_768.ini a few times, and this would have made it much easier! Thanks for the link, SSB.
As a side note, if you want to make a working dial, rather than a button or static object, you have to make a corresponding, linked entry in menu/cfg/dials.cfg. Of course, dials.cfg is pretty self-explanatory - NOT! Anyone know of a decoder for that one? |

Is this the same document as Scudder's MenuIniGuide11.pdf? Are there any other documents available that explain both the dials.cfg and the menu_1024_768.ini file. Scudder's document is quite good, but I am looking for more detail regarding the parameters in the dials.cfg and the menu ini file. Any information will be appreciated. Ilmars |
