Default Smoke looks like total crap???

So I switched from a 9700pro to a 7800GT, and you'd think I should be happy. Not so much. The smoke in the game now looks like total butt. I've read someplaces where there are issues with the nVidia drivers, or something to do with anti-aliasing or something or other, but it was relatively fragmented conversations.

Currently I'm running with the latest drivers, and I've tried that Improved Smoke thing, successfully I believe. Made the puffs of smoke just bigger an more pronouced, looked horrible on my setup.

Kudos to the guy that made it though, saw the screenshots and it looked great.

Wondering if anyone else has come across and overcome the "puffing" problem with nVidia cards?

Thanks again to everyone

I've heard of these problems as well but I have an ATI Radeon X800, I think the problems are limited to NVIDEA cards which ironically are the cards they used to build the game.

My only suggestion to you is to go back and roll your drivers back, sometimes, having the "newest" driver doesn't mean its the "best" driver.

Sorry, forgot the screenshots:

Some more info I forgot before. I'm running in 1280x1024, have the AA and AF pegged at like 8 and 16 respectively. The sun, unlike some other folks, looks fine, big ball of bright light.

Thanks for any help
