Church's IUB to RuB 1.45 Nav Map Contact Options v1.2
February, 2006

=============
Version 1.2 Notes:
=============

Yet again made an adjustment to the contact line to better hide the tails with Large Convoys.

=============
Version 1.1 Notes:
=============

Made an adjustment to the contact line to better hide the tails with Large Convoys.

==============
GENERAL NOTES:
==============
This Mod is to be used with Rub 1.45 via the JCGME program.

What it does:

I was a fan of IUB 1.02 and liked the way it handled the Contacts on the NAV Map when you have the Update Map Contacts option selected. When I made the move to RUB 1.45 I was not a fan of the way that was handled so I came up with these series of options to use.

All contacts are gray and will need to be IDed manually.

My thanks goes out to all those that did the heavy lifting in making the discoveries on how this actually worked and made the actual files. I can only take credit for the contact line.tga that replaces the RuB 1.45 Dashed one.

=================================
Explanation of the 3 variations:
=================================

NavMap Cont (No Tails No Dash)
------------------------------

What this does is allow you to see the contacts on the NAV Map and when you zoom in you will see the actual ship shapes. All contacts are black so you will need to ID.

You will not get a Tail on the Nav Map Icon when Zoomed out.
You will not get a Dash line for the sensors when you are zoomed in.
When submerged, you will get a very slightly broken contact line to the hydro contact. This file is used for both the tails and the hydro lines so there is no way to have a steady contact line. This is a massive difference from the RUB dashed line.

NavMap Cont (No Tails Only)
---------------------------

What this does is allow you to see the contacts on the NAV Map and when you zoom in you will see the actual ship shapes. All contacts are black so you will need to ID.

You will not get a Tail on the Nav Map Icon when Zoomed out.
You will get a Dash line for the sensors when you are zoomed in.
When submerged, you will get a very slightly broken contact line to the hydro contact. This file is used for both the tails and the hydro lines so there is no way to have a steady contact line. This is a massive difference from the RUB dashed line.

NavMap Cont (Tails)
-------------------

What this does is allow you to see the contacts on the NAV Map and when you zoom in you will see the actual ship shapes. All contacts are black so you will need to ID.

You will get a Tail on the Nav Map Icon when Zoomed out.
You will get a Dash line for the sensors when you are zoomed in.
When submerged, you will get a steady contact line to the hydro contact. This is the Stock IUB 1.02 version.

INSTALLATION:
============

There are 3 different versions of this mod. You can simply place all three in your MODS folder and use JCGME to install what ever version you like via JCGME.

I hope you enjoy this mod.

Can you include the original torp.tga to have the torpedo tracking re-enabled? Just would be a cool feature to include with your collection for those that want to add it back.

Sounds interesting. I guess it would make it a bit more realistic in that you have to accurately plot the sighted ships path by drawing a line through the bearings taken when plotting their speed (manual targeting).

I always use the tails and the thin black broken line that comes out of the sighted ships front when you click on it, to plot his course and this mod would make all of that a bit more of a challenge it seems... :hmm:

Yes, I like the options this mod presents. Many I am sure are pleased with the way that Rub 1.45 handles it by default but in my quest to find out a few things I found a lot of people were asking for something like this.

I have made yet another adjustment to the way the contact line is done and v1.2 now should handle all forms of contacts without any trace of a tail. It is a compromise between the dashed line effect of the hydro's contact mark when submerged and the way the tail is drawn on the Nav Map when zoomed out.
