Sorry, I take everybody literally unless I know otherwise. Partly this is my nature and partly because I've had years of people talking about how GWX saved SH3 when there are other great supermods out there, and partly because I have indeed seen games that were better than anything around today, depending on what you call "good" and what you call "realistic". For this reason I tend to overreact any time anyone says that one or the other combined would be the "ultimate".

I perfectly understand this. I´ve should have said from my experience or something like that.

I havent played with any other Supermod but GWX. So it is no offence against any other supermod (or mod, or game) that i dont mention them here but that i havent had the opportunity to test them yet. But i have to limit myself somewhere cause trying out mods and installment takes too much time needed for the game. But i am sure i would have said NYGM:s Mod if that was my choice for SH3.

A few days ago, I decided to have another go with SH5, but after having been back to SH3 again, there was still not the same enthusiasm that SH3 seems to instil in you (for me that is). I know I really want to enjoy SH5 because the graphics tempt me so much, but somehow there is something lacking in the playability, that you don't seem to get with SH3.
I am somewhat torned apart between SH3 and SH5 for the moment. Having previously said that i dont like it i started a career in SH3. Still i found myself missing the immersive sub-feeling you get from SH5. The graphics makes it come more alive and real and you feel that you are commanding a sub on the ocean for real. The graphics makes everything a bit "bigger". It is hard to explain.

But then we have the campaign (or should i say lack of) and SH3 comes to mind again. If SH5 is the hot blonde, SH3 is the rather pretty brunette who has everything the hot blonde is missing but still lacks what the blonde has. You kinda want them both.

Damn i hate this.

Honestly, SH5 campaign shouldn't bother you with OHII Full.
Trevally made a fantastic job there, and imo i find it interesting keeping some fun for the player without beeing binded too close to mission objectives.
If you miss objectives, you can still keep on going your career hoping for better results, as it was in RL (and in SH3).

I used to love SH3 years ago, but today i couldn't start it again.
I hated so much the crew management, and just for this reason i don't want to start it again. Furthermore so many graphical improvments has been done that greatly improve the immersion!
Only thing i miss from 3, is the sub variety, starting on a II and finishing on the latest U Boot. But how many Kaleuns really made it in RL?...
Well, in the waiting of a Sub variety mod in SH5, you'll have to start on a VIIA and sink on a VIIC

Sorry, having played Silent Hunter V with Windows 8, I do not think it comes close to a well modded Silent Hunter III!
Apart from how the sea looks there is nothing in V that I think is an improvement!

Each to their own.

And, finally, another topic of SH3 vs SH5 comes to an end. woot!

I am hoping by this time next year, especially with Windows XP Support ending, that I have a new computer
