I want to get into ship modeling sometime....I just don't have time now...

Cause it's baseball season....

Maybe this summer, I'll invest in a model of a Balao or Gato....or maybe a Type VII or IX....

Idk. A Typhoon Class sounds fitting....with a Los Angeles Class on the same shelf....

I've looked at RC Ships now....

This looks expensive....

Any words of advice on how to start out? I've got no money or experience.

I'm willing to save up for something like this.

Looks like my trips to various pools, rivers, lakes, ponds will be less boring....

Cool! This new version comes with actual wooden deck planking and lots of etched brass detail parts, but in fact is underneath the same Matchbox kit that's been available since 1978. Have fun with it.

So you want to get into RC boats?

Well, the first advantage is the learning curve is a lot more forgiving and less costly than this:

Things you'll need to build your boat:

Space.

Space to build the boat and space to display/store your boat.

A myriad of expensive tools.

(tablesaw, drillpress

)
*note, you'll need to learn how to solder, which isn't hard, just needs practice.

Money. It is expensive at first and the kit is the least of your expences. A good bulk of your spending will go to the electronics (radio), but it is well worth it in the long run

.

Time. This isn't something you're going to have done in a week, so it does require a level of patience.

oh, someplace to sail your boat. Ponds are great.
