Sounds like SH5 might be a bit much for your whole machine, what's your full specs?

Hope I didn't get your hopes up mate, I'm far from an expert on the matter. Sounded like you were discribing a lappy.

I've got a similar processor too: Quad core @ 2.4 ghz, but I've also got 1.5Tb of hard drives and 8gb of ram runnin' Vista, a GTS450 card and I've still gotta use the 3gb switch and anti-lag to make it run right.

Certainly sounds like you're down in the RAM department, compared to the processor. Depending on your OS of course.

I'm not familiar with your graphics card but it sounds like it's big enough although I've read that your cards memory draws from your machine's RAM and so a card that's too good for your machine will slow it down or something like that (sorry if that's wrong I got a memory like a sieve!).

I'm sure someone with more knowlage will help you out though.

Just as a note, SH5 already has the ability to use more than 2GB of memory. By using the switch you removing that ability.

your system is outdated but not that bad, you dont have enough memmory or video card to run sh5 the way it should. your processor is ok but the ram is not enough. the required specs video games give you are always too low.

upgrading to more ram will help so max out what will work with your motherboard and ram is dirt cheap now so swapping yours out for a better speed and maxing out your boards ram capacity (which is most likely 6gb) wont cost much.

your main problem is the video card is way too outdated, a 9500 is just a repackaged 8500 because they never changed anything but the name for it so i suggest you swap it out for a gtx550 video card with 1gb onboard ram

found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...CE&Pagesize=20
most are $70-$90 depending on the rebate so i would definately get one if i were you (i always stick with EVGA cards myself)

maxing your system ram and a new video card will make your computer feel brand new again and can be done for about $150

I have almost the same specs.. Quad Core CPU Q6600@2.4ghz, 2Gb RAM, WinXP SP3 32-bit and GT 430 1Gb..
I'm already used to freezes/stuttering when action starts.. unfortunately I unable now to improve the specs of my PC..

I think all you need are a bit more RAM (4-6 Gb) and Win7 64-bit.. maybe new video card as Webster noted..

Your GF is okay 1gig is good enough imho. But 2gigs of ram is low, go 4 or even 8 if your pc can.

Dual core Win 7 64bit Running at 4gigs ram with only a GF 9800GTX 500mb, OK Tho another 4gigs making it up to 8 SH5 would run superb on my machine, but atm its good enough for me

it looks good, but 1600 ram costs only $5 more then the 1333 set will so definately do that, you can never have high enough speed or too much ram.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231568 16 GB set $90

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145345 8 GB set $51

everything else you listed will still be great with the i3, i5, or i7, just be sure to get matching ram for your mobo. at todays prices i dont think it makes a lot of sense to build anything less then an i5 system and i wouldnt build less then an i7 if it were me but if you are on a tight budget then the i3 system with 16 GB ram looks great.

PS - also dont overlook the mobo, a good quality mobo is key and price can be confusing. some cost a lot but arent any better then lower priced boards and many you pay a lot for overclocking features that most people never use so take the most time with selecting the right mobo for your needs. boards in the $100-$150 range are all i would spend and they will serve your needs well. cheaper bvoards are just that "cheap" and higher priced boards are usually not worth the extra money you pay for them unless you are some extreme computer user or hard core overclocker.

An i3 CPU isn't big enough even at 3.30 GH..... it's still slow because it's an i3. That's usually a laptop processor. Better yet would be an i5 quadcore, or even better yet an i7 quadcore. Use 4GB of DDR3 12800 RAM with your 32bit system. A 1GB GFX card is fine. And use Coolmaster's H-60, or bigger, for liquid cooling.

I've been running a Zotac GF 8800GT 1GB GFX card since I built this computer and started running SH5. No problems so far with it, even tho it's the bottom line for GFX cards to run SH5. Your 9500 should be fine.

And make sure you keep the inside of you case clean. The crud that build's up inside is the biggest performance killer I've seen. I've seen the insides of computers so filthy it's a wonder they'd even boot up the OS.

An i3 is used more for low end-laptops. Not much bang for the buck.

Sorry I Mark missed you have Windows 7 64bit. If you can go with the i7, you won't regret it. Then get the most and best RAM you can afford after you get the i7. You can always add RAM later on.
