I have been playing DW now for sometime. I play mostly US Subs and occasionaly the Akulas.
I am still unsure of AutoCrew in Broadband and narrowband. Is there anyway I can use this and avoid all the ghost contacts that occur? I do play in manual but there are many times I would like the Autocrew. My question is, does anyone have any solutions for this? I know that SC was bad about it, but it seems to me that SCXIIc worked that out, I still see a few but not many. Thanks, Ron Banks MMCM(SS), USN(Ret) |

The autocrew for submarine sonars has never really worked well for me. I find that I am much better at marking and identifying contacts and managing the trackers, that playing with the AC ruins my situational awareness.
If you want to use the sonar AC, I think you are pretty much left with what it gives you.

I've cheated and removed the "mirrored" characteristics of the towed arrays...
![]() (my semi-justification is that subs could always operate twin towed arrays to resolve ambuiguity ![]() |

Yep sonar autocrew is a bit wierd. As for myself I hate most of the autocrew TMA included.
As for the sonar, I cant think of any reason why you would want to use it at all, especially in the Akula. The narrow band display allows you to spot contacts even in time compression due to its 360 degree display. ![]() The seawolve and 688 on the other hand can be a nightmare....having manually to scan the cursor across bearings is tedious. What would be nice would be an auto scan option. Oh well heres dreaming. ![]() |

A little stationary "joystick" was used to move the cursor left or right.
