Default Will Be Down For A Bit......

Due to Windows crapping out on me I have to do a reinstall of XP, or go to Windows 7. I will not upgrade to 8 as I was told by the workers in our local MS Store that it isn't game friendly.

XP took a royal dump on me two days ago and I'm saving all I can to back up HDD and DVDs. Cyas in a few days.

Sorry to hear it. I had to buy a new copy of XP Pro not long ago when I accidentally deleted part of my Windows installation.

Having to reinstall everything is like going to the dentist.

Good luck.

Thanks I'm gonna need it. I'd rather go to the dentist than do this. LOL Just about ready to pull the plug but I have to find the disc for my Asus P7P55D-E LX motherboard. Without it I'm scrod as I need the dirivers and software on it to install. I saw it the other day but I think my grandson ran off with it or hid it on me. He loves to play with my computer DVDs and CDs. He thinks they're great to use as frizzbees and sneeks off with them when I'm not around.

I thought there was a repair on the OEM XP Pro disc. I've heard of guys doing just that without having to buy it again. I have Home but there's still a way to semi repair an install gone bad. Unfortunately mine is beyond that. One of the techies at CompUSA said I have some seriously bad malware that's stopping any kind of repair. A full reinstall is the only way to correct things gone bad.

It is possible to clean them but it takes a few different programs and time.

If you can't find your mobo cd:

http://support.asus.com/download/Mod...20LX%20&type=1

just enter your OS.

On the upside it's nice to have a new install where everything runs great (just a pain to get there).

Thanks Seg. I found that yesterday and have it all, including updates, burned to a DVD. Looks like Asus doesn't even make this motherboard anymore. Too bad tho, cause it's a good one.

Also found my Asus CD in the grandson's stash he thought he had hidden on me. He's gonna get a beating vey soon. LOL Cyas soon..... I hope.

All is good so far.... knock on wood! Need to install a couple more pieces of software and then I can get my SH3 and 5 reinstalled. This time I'm putting them both on my second drive so they are protected and safe.

Hey GT
Yeah, They've got some malware out there (rhymes) that is serious. My wife got a bad one on her brand new 64 bit HP Lap and I found a tech page to remove it. Well, I got it removed but not before it had wiped out the program files and the taskbar...Basically hosed the registry. We finally did a factory reset on it last weekend. Point is, I used to gripe about Symantic/Norton, well, It has saved my Asus twice now, so, I don't cut'em so much anymore. It may not work all the time but I'm happy so far.
Good Luck to you my friend. It's worth the work, I just hope I never have the Malware thing again.

I haven't had a chance to get both completey reinstalled yet. I do have SH5 installed, but need to get my mods back in. Been busy getting things done around the house and doing work for a lady around her house and flower gardens. Gotta make some money for the GTO before the season ends. I can't pass up 20 bucks an hour.

Solved my printer problem today. Just before the reformat my computer couldn't find the printer. Same after and reinstallling the HP software. Well now it's fixed. Just bought a HP 4620 All-in-one and it's working great. The 5610v must have something inside that went bonkers. Another case of damitall solved. 20 bucks an hour for an 8 hour day just about gone too.
