How to change interior

Hey fellow submariners!

I have had SH4 for a while now, and recently a problem occured in the game. Somehow the interior of the Gato class suddenly stopped working!
When I try to start a career or mission with Gato class, it just crashes.
I have tried reinstalling, updating, reupdating and all that, but nothing seems to work. A friend of mine told me that I could change the interior of the Gato to the interior of another Fleet Sub. One that is mostly similar.
So how can I do that? (Detailed instructions please)

P.S I have U-boat missions, but that doesn't seem to have caused the problem...

You own this game through Steam or CD?

If it's from a CD I suggest to uninstall and install it again. See if that helps?

If you bought the game from Steam, then do this.

1) Right click on your Steam icon and select "Library."
2) Right click SH4
3) Go to local files
4) Click/ Select "Verify Integrity of game cache..."

Once that's complete do the same with SH4: U-Boat missions and see if that helps for you.

Are you running any mods with the game?

I have tried that countless times, problem still exists.
It is a CD version.
And nope, no mods.

And one more thing, the Hydrophone on Gato doesn't work either.

No I had actually just reinstalled when it first happened.

It might of been a mix up of a mod over writing something and broke it. I'm' not in that kind of tech stuff so I can't help you there.

But do you know how to change interior?

And I doubt a mod broke it because I only use a cleaner water mod

Check the download section here at Subsim. I think there are some interior mods for fleetboats in there.

Have tried, it doesn't seem to accept any Gato interiors...

What I want to know is if its possible to use another interior and how do I do it? Anyone?

Okay, hmmmmmmmmmmm, well, the next question is, where do you have the game installed? Did you install it to the default location when you loaded the game on your computer?

If so, uninstall the game, and delete the SH4 folder from My Documents. Then on your hard drive, create a folder and call it whatever you want, I called mine Games In that folder create an SH4 folder.

When you go to install the game, navigate to the Sh4 folder in your newly created Games folder. Let it load up there.

But the stock game itself is pretty buggy. If you would like to experience the stock game without it's personality crisis, I would suggest Webster's GFO mod. It tweaks a few things, but stays very very close to the original release.

Since you have the dvd version of the game, do you know what version of the game it is? Is it 1.4 or 1.5? If you have 1.5, you should have the Uboat Missions add-on, but it also changed a lot of the core files for things in the game. So a lot of mods won't work correctly with older versions because of compatability issues.

Also, do you know what your system specifications are for your computer? That helps folks here to help you try to sort issues out.

I don't use default directory.
I use 1.5 with u-boat missions, but again, that haven't caused the problem...
And my specs are more than enough. I have played this game for years before this error occured.
