Default Hollywood director Tony Scott jumps to death from bridge

Quote:
Hollywood director Tony Scott, famous for films including Top Gun, has died after jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles, authorities have said.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's office said Scott's death was being investigated as a suicide.
British-born Scott, brother of Alien director Ridley, shot to fame in the 1980s with a string of action films.
The 68-year-old's films included Crimson Tide, Days of Thunder and True Romance.
He also directed Enemy of the State and Beverly Hills Cop II.

Was he ill, cancer, depression? Family troubles? Financial problems? Fear of age?

A terrible shame, I don't know what drove him to it, and we probably won't for a while, but he had some fantastic films under his belt, including Top Gun which despite its occasional cheese and American made MiGs, was still a good film, and of course, a film relevant to our community, Crimson Tide.

RIP good sir, I hope that you find the peace that you were clearly striving for.

I shall end this post with my favourite part from Top Gun, the opening:

Never good to hear of someone taking their own life.

The Telegraph quotes unconfirmed reports claiming that Tony Scott suffered from depressions.

A very nasty, mean, and underhanded disease. And potentially lethal.

German forum members still have on mind the recent news on the suicide of actress Silvia Seidel, most likely due to depressions, too. Or national team goalie Thomas Enke two years ago.

Possible that Scott was not only desperate, but also wanted to protect his family also. For family members of a depressive person, life becomes misery as well. People retreating from depressive people, not always are careless or evil, or illoyal, but simply have been brought beyond their own breaking point, and just cannot stand it anymore. So I recommend to be careful before speaking bad of somebody leaving a depressive person behind. Everybody can handle so much only, and not more.

Well, he made his decision and we should respect it.

I hope he has found the peace he was seeking.

Most sad for his family.

I've also heard reports that he was possibly diagnosed with untreatable brain cancer. Not confirmed as far as I can tell, though.
