Default question on TMO mod

Ive been using RFB mod and like it but now im wanting to try out TMO.

Does TMO have the damage model like RFB to where you can sink ships by flooding different compartments ?

I played both RFB and TMO. I don't like either because it's not really enough action for me. I never really find any action accept maybe 1-3 ships to sink in one patrol.

1- 3 ships? Historically, that's pretty average. But if that's all you're finding, then you're not looking in the right places. For the most action start from the Philippines.

Also, did you use the RSRD add-on that makes hunting enemy ships as close to what happened in the war as far as battles, and ship movements, and merchant shipping.

Jason,

Can't remember what sinking mechanics TMO uses, but it isn't stock. All I can suggest, is give it a try. Along with the other mods out there too. Each has their own feel, and their own attributes. Don't remember if RFB allows it, but TMO lets you take your boat way passed "test depth". How far can you go? Well, if you find out at what depth your boat's crush depth is, you won't be going back to base to tell them about it.

Fall Of The Rising Sun has some good points like more variety in shipping, and planes you can encounter. It also has it's own environment mod, and other things.

Game Fixes Only mod, lets you experience the basic outta the box game without the personality crisis. As it mainly addresses the issues the game had when released.

I like RFB the one thing that i miss is the keyboard commands such as battle stations and stuff. ALso the biggest turnoff for me is I miss the sonar lines. I tried a mod to turn them back on but the lines are all broken up and seems difficult to use. I know this is a simulator but I want my stock sonar lines back lol. After I get better ill do it all the hard way but just starting out it seems to much. Any help for that ?

For map contacts I think you need to copy back stock contline.dds and dashline.dds to Data\Menu\Gui\. For ship shapes on the map you would look into sea folder (each ship has "(ship_name)_shp.dds" file. If you dont want to do it yourself I can send you my sea folder with ships icons (but for TMO\rSrD only, would work with RFB I think).
For commands, you would look at Cfg\Commands.cfg. For example, my TMO isntallation have this:
Code:
[Cmd436]
Name=Toggle_battle_stations
Ctxt=1
Key0=0x42,,"B"
Just copy and paste into yours, but make sure there is no other command that uses "B" key (use search), if there is, you can remove it (or comment out whole line with ";") or change to some other key.

Jason8888, have you tried TMOplot? It's compatible with RFB and it gives you most of the plot information available in TMO, without godlike omniscience. Seems (to me) to fit well in the RFB philosophy.

As for the keyboard, I have made a simple mod for a custom keyboard to use with RFB. It has Battle Stations, Battery Recharge, direct TBT, and everything else I found I needed but could only access through the GUI. It also has safeties on all the controls I have hit accidentally to screw up an approach: Dive is now Ctrl-D, Surface is Ctrl-S, etc. And I added ID Target, to give the assistant approach officer something to do. I'm too new here to want to publish it for the world to see, but I would be happy to PM you a copy of the file, along with a PDF of the new keyboard layout. Let me know if you are interested.

Glad to know you're using RFB. It seems the vast majority prefer TMO or FOTRS. I was beginning to think I was the only weird one.

RSRD is why you see less shipping than stock, or if you used the mods without it. TMO and RFB on their own alter the shipping and some of the battles that took place, but RSRD drastically changes things to as closely as possible represent the Pacific in WWII.

Well, I play with the Ohio mod so maybe I'm just going to fast for what the time period has events at. Example I'll be going ahead full (20kts) to my objective. When I should be doing ahead 2/3 (15kts) or even ahead slow to my designation.

I might try TMO without the RSRD. See if I get my action or not, because using the Ohio, I can wipe out a task force of 20+ ships.
