Default Big RADAR Problem...

Hi folks. I have SH4 installed.. then i added the UBISOFT expansion pack. I then have the TMO super mod on top of that and everything works just fine.

Except my RADAR. I have tested it from the beginning from the raw game install and through the various add ons. And it's remained the same. A useless blurry blob of red and green that's completely unreadable and unusable with all gauge and baring scales/info totally absent.

I just tried a RADAR mod that's meant to add clear gauges etc but that did not work at all.

If anyone knows of a fix or mod for the RADAR I would be very grateful.

Below is the mess I have..

Can you post screen shots of both your RADAR screens please so I can see what I am missing?

Someone else on the forum had the same problem. We think it might be a video card driver problem. Make sure you have the latest driver. If you do, then try an older driver.

Yes I know about that video card discussion. That's not my issue. Fire, fine detailed explosions, water spray, and a 100 other infinitely more graphically demanding things then a simple RADAR screen with readable gauges all render superbly.

I'm now well into the campaign on mission 13 and this RADAR is becoming increasingly important.

What does yours look like? Screen shot please?

if you have max optics mod then that could be your problem, some versions have been known to cause blurry images up close

I have Maxoptics installed and a mod I found in one of the two downloads sections. It is called something like "Smaller Radar Mod". It worked just fine in my setup -see the bottom of my signature block. It in in the mix called Mod Soup. Hope it works for you too.

I found it in the SH4 Gameplay downloads. It is the first one listed, actually. The name is: "Small Radar Contacts Mod Stage 1..."

Thank you I'll give that a try torpedobait and let you know how I get on.

As my career progresses I'm finding that the enemy seems to be getting smarter, more aggressive and come in greater numbers and armed with better gear..

Workable RADAR is becoming a necessity
