My first action on spotting an aircraft is to crash dive and then do a hard turn to port or starboard once under.
I was wondering at what depth in the "game" that a submarine can still be seen and what a "safe" depth to go is?

I feel safer when LI shouts "Current depth 10m".

Same point of view here...its beter to dive fast and avoid the combat against any plane instead to stay and fight...taking the risk to lose crew and heavy damaged to your U-boot puting in risk your patrol objectives...

It is best to dive, But if it sword fish I try to hunt down the flat top that they came from.

I think if you don't see yourself in external view, the airplanes don't see you either. Some airplanes carry depth charges, so I guess there is no safe depth.

Aircraft depth charges appear to be set shallow.
If I can get below 40 meters before they drop, they don't seem to be a problem.

I thought this was discussed a long time ago and if I remember correctly< aircraft depth charges are set to 25m. So like said above, flank speed, dive and once you get to 40+m you are good.

The plane depth charges start counting dwon in the air though so they usually only go down at the most ten metres. Id say get down to 20 then pull up to persicope depth. That way any bombs they drop while your going down and at 20 metres wont hit you. Dont engage them unless thier already on top of you. Be careful of how much water you have under you, many a time ive crash dived into the ocean florr
