Default no more death screens

i was wondering if someone had a mod to remove the death spiral screens?

im looking for the sub to stay alive and sink until i die from crushing or flooding so you can "go down fighting" so to speak.

im not looking to change death just to not take me away from the sub in a spin before it "officially" happens even if it removes death from damage and you only die from flooding thats ok too.

nothing drives me crazy like running on the surface fighting to get away only to be stopped in the middle of it because some damage threshold was met. i want to stay in the game until the sub can no longer stay on the surface so it can be more realistic looking even if it isnt realistic in practice.

so is there a mod out there to do this or anything close to it

I think you are already dead by the time you get the death spiral. There is no way to recover and your hull would already be crushed/flooded. In other words you are dead, but haven't reached Davy Jones yet. I guess it is the games way of letting you down easy.

there was someone working on this in the early days of sh4 but the last i heard of it there was a problem with subs being too indestructable.

just thought it was a good mod idea to make subs sink only from flooding so you dont die by surprise but rather you see it coming right up to the end

like in the example i gave above i was not flooding and had only 10% hull damage, and while i understand "why" i died it was a major buzz kill that a still fully opperational sub that isnt sinking has to die because some magic damage number threshold was reached

I see your point. This aspect of the game could have been handled much better. What bothers me is that it is possible that one can be killed and have no idea what happened.

The old SHCE wasn't bad. You got a message such as KILLED BY SHELL, and then there was a spinning newspaper coming into view relating the sad story of the USN's loss of your boat.
....The Navy admitted today that SS-137 is overdue and presumed lost. Based on its last reported position off the northern coast of Japan, it is believed to have hit a mine and sank with the loss of all aboard.....

I use Travs mod, as stated it basically prolongs death, even though you're really dead, just takes minutes more, sort of more realistic. I do like several of the other features of the mod as well, sub will sink on the surface if flooded, reworked crew efficiency, able to sit on the bottom, reworked damage zones - one deckgun round can ruin your day or career...
It's the best mod I've loaded in a long time.

I've been debating loading that mod... But, does it play well with TMO? What about FOTRS?
