Default Report: Russia to send marines to Syria

Now, it gets interesting...

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...a3233cdd4f8550

How do you think Russia would respond if there was a sort of incident like the 1983 U.S. Marines' barracks bombing?...

They would invade Montserrat.

Sounds like they are looking for casus belli to get involved into that war.

Ya know "we are just defending ourselves..."

Either that or what Tribesman said.

Well, a ship carrying Hinds to Syria has reportedly turned around, so Russia has bowed to some form of pressure...

Only because ship's insurance was revoked under EU rules (which exposed it for seizure by western powers). They just have to get new insurance policy from outside Europe.

Ofcourse they could ask Baltic Fleet for "insurance".

EDIT: ...or maybe not: http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/06/russia/

Here's the "Wired" report on the turn-around:

http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/06/russia/

I had a feeling there was something more to the noticeably terse and tense appearance by Obama and Putin at the summit yesterday. Back in 1962, it took a picket line of US naval ships to turn back the Russians; now it takes a word in the right allied ear and an insurance company to send them packing. No wonder Putin was trying to keep a lid on his understandable emotions following what will/would be looked upon as a loss of political face. If the loss of insurance risked a seizure of the ship(s) and its contents, who would have made the stop and seizure? Would it be a joint allied effort or, as in so many past cases, would the US be left to take action and assume the ultimate risk? Remember, the forced turn back of the Russian (Soviet) ships in 1962 led to a huge loss of face to the Kremlin and, in the end, the ouster of Khrushchev from power...
