Default Thank you to the subsim community !

I had recently been wanting to play a sub simulation game, but read some awful reviews regarding the newer Silent Hunter releases. I then remembered I had the DVD version of SH3.
Of course, I had a much newer computer now running Win7, and I strongly suspected that I'd probably have issues, specifically with that spawn of satan called Starforce.

Before even attempting to install the game, I came to this forum and found all the information that I needed to install the game from the DVD, without Starforce.

The information I gained from this forum meant I was able to install and run SH3 with absolutely no issues. Also running it with GWX3 (a fantastic addon), 4 GB patch, and able to run the game under my monitor's native 1920x1080 resolution.

Currently at April, 1940 of my first career on my new PC, and loving it.

Thanks again to all involved in making that write up, and others, that helps us Win7 and SH3 DVD users out.

Thanks for the welcome all.

Now I remember why I stopped playing years back.

The dreaded save game bug hit me, both my saves, corrupted.
Normally, I'd just restart the patrol, but this corrupted patrol, around 115k in sunk ships, including a 33k warship.

I'm not too happy right now.

I believe it's because I saved too close to land or maybe it's the strait of gibralter location (which is where i remember i had the same issue years ago).

Anyone ever figure out how to fix this issue?

That is harsh. The corrupted save happens a lot. I believe there is a fix. And anyway, welcome!
