Default A Decent Sub Screensaver.

I have spent the last three weeks combing the Internet for a decent Submarine screensaver, and not one, not one does them any justice. Outside of the slideshows that show real sub pix.

I am setting up my Computer room to resemble a sub, I have flashing going up for the walls, a neat general quarters light fixture I invented that allows the switching between regular bulb and crimson red at the flick of a switch. And I need a certain kind of theme for my computer screen.

I am looking for a decent Theme that gives the look and feel of a sub for a windows XP based OS. I'm not too picky about what one because I have been unable to find any as of yet so I would appreciate anyone who knows of a good one. And a screensaver, a special kind of screensaver. One that shows an underwater view with caustic effects on a subs hull. No goofy fishies, no sunken pirate ships.

If anyone knows of one I would really appreciate the link.

Thank You,
Mustangl

What kind of sub?

Modern?
WWII sub?
U-boat?

I play SH3 and I edit a lot of screenshots when I'm bored, just so ya know...

Not really a specific sub I'm looking for.

I would prefer a more modern one but WWII era subs are also nice.
I'd like a 688I Los Angeles or a Seawolf model in a 3D screensaver under water with the surface reflecting off the hull, so it looks like it is just sitting there as the waves on the surface roll by.

P.S:
I also have Silent Hunter III but my Video card cannot run it well enough so I can play.

www.subguru.com (downloads page) has a number of high resolution submarine images you can run in a screen saver.

If you want a submarine-ish find the insignia of your favorite submarine or submarine fleet (like CONSUBLANT) and make that your desktop wall paper. :hmm:

Mustang wants a screensaver with underwater shots. My screensaver pics only include a handful that meet this requirement. My suggestion: download the wallpapers that Neal has made available

http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/p...tml#wallpapers

Then, (if you're running XP), extract them to a custom folder of your choice, and follow the instructions below:

1. Right-click on the desktop and select "properties" to open the "Display Properties" dialog

2. Select the "Screen Saver" tab

3. Under the "Screen saver" pulldown, select "My Pictures Slideshow"

4. For Settings, under "Use pictures in this folder", browse to the folder you created above.

Hope this helps!

(P.S., One of Neal's files gives me a bad download )

Someone could probably build a really cool one out of the GarageGames Torque 2D game development engine http://www.garagegames.com/products/browse/t2d/

The demo could even possibly be modified into one http://www.garagegames.com/pg/demo.php?id=62 as it's an underwater scene with nice underwater lighting effects.

I have a screensaver maker and it is all setup for my Screensaver idea !

I need some recording in Silent hunter 3 of a XXI underwater a few meters in the daytime, at all stop.
Just sit there for a few moments and let the surface reflection roll over the model.

If anyone wants a screensaver of their own just send me some footage with the above requirments with a SH3 recording of your sub of choice.

I'm Really Psyched about this as I am planning on making a very interactive PC GUI Theme. And will make it public soon.

Good Sailing,
Mustang
