Default Problem with TMO 2.5 a RSRDC.......

I have TMO 2.5 installed via JSGME followed by RSRDC_TMO_V502 and RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1.

I belive I found a reproducable bug where the Black dot position marker of a ship would disappear from the NAV and Attack maps when ever the aforementioned RSRDC Mods were installed.

I had the dots show up fine every time until I enabled the RSRDC Mod...

Even when the peri is up and a target locked the dot is missing...

I was able to test this in the TORPEDO ATTACK mission in Sub School where the JApanese heavy cruiser dot was invisible every time I enabled RSRDC.

Is there a workaround for this?

THANKS!

Why yes, there is.

Go to the SH4 directory, navigate to the data/sea directory and look in one of the directories listed there for any ship that DOES show up on your map when zoomed in, you are looking for the ships dds file. This file contains the graphic for use when zoomed in on a ship. In TMO this is the same for all ships visible when zoomed in, just a black dot.

Example: NDE_Parker_shp.dds

Copy this file and place it in the directory named for the ship that is NOT visible when zoomed in. Now, just rename the file to match the ship name (keeping the .dds extension, of course) and you are done. The ship will now be shown as a black dot when you zoom in.

Alternatively, there is a nice mod out there to make all TMO ships visible using the original style graphics, just check the downloads section.

OK I'll try that Mod...

I guess having ship Silhouettes back is better than no markings at all...

I really do prefer the TMO Black Pencil Dots but I can't have missing markings for some ships!

Thanks!

Then use the fix I suggested. IIRC, just change the Nomi_PB, NDD_Wakatake, NDD_Shimatzu, PB102, and PB10x. Those r the ones I remember encountering the most with RSRD. Just make sure none of the ships is seen (radar, visual) at the time you do this.

I play TMO with RSRD and get the black squares at low magnification, get the pencil dot at high mag on the map screens.

Which IJN carrier? Find that carrier in the Sea folder, and change the name of that ships .dds to say "shipname_nodot.dds , and add a new .dds copied from a ship that has the DOT display, and change that one to be "shipname".dds where "shipname" is the name of that IJN carrier.
