Default Help with my attack at Scapa Flow

Greetings gentlemen!
I'm new to this forum, but i've been reading your interesting posts for a while now... and every time i learn something new about this really wonderful game.

So... i come out with a question myself.
Yesterdey i sneaked for my first time in Scapa Flow. I was so excited...
I've found a Fiji Class Light Cruiser, as lots of you reported. I readied my fishes and shot 4 of them at it.

And nothing... i mean... i heard the BOOMS... but no water in the air, no damage to the ship... and after a while the guy screaming "torpedo missed, sir". Everything was all right at the moment of the launch, it was an easy stationary target, and the range was perfect.

Then i tried again with 4 more. The same.
Then with the last 2 ones. the same.

I was i shallow waters so i thought my fishes hit the ground. But even trying to set the depth to 1 m didn't solve the problem.

Then a i depleted my ammo and i headed back to base, astonished...

Damn... havent read anything like this in these forums... so i'm asking you what could have been....

please, kind captains, enlighten me!

Welcome aboard, mate!

I guess you are using the Harbour Traffic mod. Some docked ships are protected by anti-submarine nets, that´s why the torpedos couldn´t hit it.

I've thought that myself... but between the attacks the ship moved a bit ahead to evade my torps... maybe the nets are veeery long anyway

But... why no water in the air anyway? maybe just a little bug

Actually it is surrounded by nets.

The radius is 500m.

Don't give up, I am using all the realism mods and it is very possible to get passed those nets with your torps. Just make sure the weather is ok so your torps aren't thrown into those nets. I have sunk me some mighty fine ships there and the effort is usually worth it!

Yes, set torps to surface and pray. I once saw someone say that their torps make it about 50% of the time when trying to get through the nets. I on the other hand, have had a much higher percentage of success. I only even try when the sea is flat and calm. I would suggest you did the same unless you are willing to lose more torps than perhaps otherwise. That's about all I can say pal.

Good luck and good hunting.

Setting the depth to 0 meters... i got almost 100% success rate

and 1 torp usually takes down a crusier, but i use 2 for safety... 4 is over kill

Thanks a lot, my friends...
Anyway... writing here has been really unlucky... next mission i played i've been wiped out by a convoy escort... really sad. My lost captain destroyed a george V class Battleship (HMS Anson), and i felt really sorry for his death.

Damn...

Now everything all over again...
