Default Project 636.3 (06363) Kilo?

These are being built for the BSF, but I wasn't previously aware of this variant. The article on the subsim front page says that these can strike land targets, so I suppose I could infer from that, that these are the first non-export Kilos armed with the Klub series missiles. I've had zero luck googling any further information. Does anyone have a source mentioning any changes from the standard 636?

No idea. I thought 636.3 to be same as "improved Kilo" but that seems to be 636M.

We got to call TLAM Strike to help us...

No news as of yet but the black sea fleet are generally made of cast offs from the northern fleet, they have been testing AIP tech for the last few years but as of yet nothing much to go on and ive come up with nothing, they have suspended building the replacements for the kilos so they may be refitting some units to extend thier lives and using AIP but its only a hunch and to me refitting a kilo makes sence as they have a past record for doing it.

It doesn't look like it will be composed of cast offs for long. The majority of new ships being built are going to go to the Black Sea and Pacific fleets. The article on the front page mentions that all 6 636.3s are under construction (so they're not just plans, it's actually happening). It's also noteworthy that they are building Kilos instead of Ladas, as well as Krivak IVs (Talwars) instead of the new Gorshkov FFGs. So instead of a pie-in-the-sky plan for modernization, they are actually going with proven designs that they know they can build quickly, and in numbers that will dramatically change the balance of power in the region.

Perhaps the US could learn something from this.

Yes im aware they are building new "old" units, but i suppose its a bit like the burke DDG's after such a long production line theres nothing else really any better they can build for now and it ticks all the boxes.

I think they are thinking cost, proven design, modern equipment which i must say is a revolation in itself.

The black sea only really has one major dominant power and that is turkey who controls the bosphorous, bringing in new more upto date units would definatly shift the ballance of power in the area, plus i do believe alrosa is probably the most modern bit of kit they have other than the slava cruiser the rest are a bit antique but still useful none the less.

As for the pacific fleet they have been in need of an overhaul for the last 15 years but i think this may have something to do with the rising power of china, i wouldnt put it past the russians to either put the kuznetsov in the pacific or build a new carrier and maintain a 2 carrier fleet.
Im hoping they do build another carrier like thier old ulyonsk plans she would have been a very good ship had she been built.

http://siberianlight.net/six-new-rus...er-every-year/

Quote:
At a press conference Rogozin – Russia’s straight-talking former ambassador to NATO – told reporters that by next year “production capacity will allow us to build six submarines and an aircraft carrier every year”.
The announcement follows a similar one, four years ago, that Russia would build six new aircraft carriers and it’s worth noting that no actual construction has begun since that announcement.
So, it’s not surprising that today’s news has been greeted with skepticism from analysts, who argue that this level of production is way beyond Russia’s capacity – or, for that matter, the capacity of any country in the world.
