Default Photojournalist arrested by Maryland police

http://www.gazette.net/article/20120...mplate=gazette

Just another casualty in the war on public accountability that our police are bravely fighting, but this bit made it stand out:

Quote:
[Officer] Malouf wrote he approached Garcia, who immediately became disorderly and began yelling. Malouf then put Garcia under arrest. Garcia then threw himself to the ground and then against the police cruiser, attempting to injure himself.

There truly is no bottom to the depths some police will sink.

The same paradigm should apply to the police. If they are not doing anything wrong, they have nothing to fear by being recorded by the citizenry.

Since the police are the part of the government authorized to infringe on our civil rights in certain circumstances, I think the police need to be put under greater scrutiny by the citizens not less.

For years the police have been recording us in public under the auspice of collecting and recording evidence. The same should apply to the citizens.

Completely agree and I think that viewpoint is what will ultimately prevail.

I don't think anyone has actually been convicted of recording the police have they? I know several have been arrested and, unfortunately when arrested, things probably happen to the recording.

But has anyone actually been convicted? I think the state and federal supreme courts would have a field day with that.
