Can't be a new problem;need help searching

A video aberration only on the bridge screen regardless of u-boat type, appearing only on the left side of the screen in any type of weather, nothing opaque, yet seeming like a curved "wave front" that follows the sweep of view (panning /scanning) throughout the 360 degrees of view.
The aberration stretches curved, more or less, north and south.

Sincerely,

Post a screen shot please.

But it kind of sounds like the nvidia driver issue, I think. Do a search on "stairway to heaven" see if that thread helps you.

It does indeed sound as though it is the nvidia monster.

The video system used here is Intel, christened "HD Graphics" with the latest upgrade from Lenovo, formerly known as IBM.

Screen shot? Two things: I'll have to read up on how to do that. The other will be to reload the program, as I uninstalled it to try how it is without all the MODs I unconsciously pour on. Perhaps a conflict lies there.

The MODs are the only reason I still have interest in the program.

Correctamundo, PapaKilo, but who said it was a laptop? Do you know something about wavefronts occurring on laptops?

Searching in "stairway to heaven"? You care to illuminate me on that location, Gargamel?

Sincerely,
Reverie

I remember reproducing this kind of side effect on my gf's Acme laptop back in a while. It was somewhat a crooked but transparent sort of line in lower left corner of the screen. If you're having the same issue.

Updating video drivers did not helped, so I decided this is something that can not be fixed and uninstalled SH3 hours later.

I think that was the phrase we used in the thread, searching for that should lead to the correct thread. (on another popular forum I used tO moderate, I made a sIngle post of "drunken midget wrestling" in a longer thread just so I could direct people to search for that threAd).

And we have only heard of this on laptops iirc, usually on nvidia based intel graphics chips.

PapaKilo, it heartbreakingly sounds as if I didn't do enough research before replacing my machine, and will be forced to purchase another one.

Ah me, it's good for the Economy.

I too have relegated SH3, not reloading it for further troubleshooting.

Yet how's this? With DOSBox, I am rediscovering the joys of a minor code of antiquity; Aces of the Deep. One can even form wolfpacks!

Thank you Gargamel. It's a phrase I should be searching for, and not a subject. I would like to refresh on the early nvidia/SH3 video debacle before any further shopping.

I could laud the praiseworthy performance of ATI, but I had too many hardware failures using that brand. Certainly, a dedicated ATI system might be the way to go.

Thank you, gentlemen.
