Expanded the Boats section and added a Torps section. May be getting off track with this being more a compilation of historical info from the internet covering submarines and torpedoes.

I like it so far. The torpedoes section is nice. You're putting a lot of work into this, and it shows.

Thanks, guys. I figure featuring subs without torpedoes is kinda like talking about firearms without bullets. For a weapon system of it's time, they're integral. I'm also learning a great deal doing this. I find myself doing a quick study during the compilation and a review afterwards. Nothing near what members like Davey and RR and many here already know (and have discussed). I just thought to myself, "Self, this stuff could use a centralized location/home." And the more I hafta search to put it together, the more that just seems to justify that.
I'm actually looking forward to hearing things like "Your stats on such and such are slightly off, here's a more accurate source" or "I have a story about the such and such for you to incorporate, if you want." The wife mentions, "Well, you don't play your game much, spending all your time working on a website about it." My response, "It doesn't really seem to be just about the game anymore." ![]()

And that's how we learn. Whether it's historical research or modding or music, we learn far more from doing it than we can ever pick up in a classroom. I tried to take a music history class once, and failed miserably. Now the classical composers are among my favorite subjects.

Steve, the bug's bit. I was a fan of submarine and flight sims when I first joined this community, a few years back, but my military history research fell more on WWII U.S.N. (and some Air Corps) aviation. (You'd have thought I might have researched more on sub history, having served in an anti-submarine patrol squadron.) The more I learn about the sub side, the more I'm fascinated. It's broadening my horizons ... same passion ... new venue. ![]()

Nah. I started playing tabletop miniatures games back in the late '80s, and the more I played them all the more I found things I wished had been done differently. I started doing research and thinking about the way I would like a game to be done. Now I have hundreds of pages written on individual ships, and a head full of pretty much useless knowledge. My game is half finished, probably always will be, but I'll bet I know more on 1892-1918 British and German battleship, cruiser and destroyer armor and armament than anyone I'm ever likely to meet.
It's weird what leads us to learn certain things, but in my experience that's the way it happens.

Thanks for the update. I have it in my 'Favorites' list, but "Out of sight, out of mind". I just went through the 'Boats' section again. Amazing work!
![]() I have one comment about the intro page, though. In referring to Silent Hunter 4 you use the phrase "In 2007 Ubisoft finally released a World War II submarine simulator game with a Pacific setting..." The "finally" is a little off, because while it was indeed Ubisoft's first Pacific version, the original Silent Hunter from SSI was a Pacific based US fleet boat sim.

Thanks, Steve. I'll do some editing tonight.
![]() (Was reading that old thread about your trip to Houston to visit Neal and other fellow SubSimmers. Great read, even now.)

I wasn't suggesting that, just making an observation. You're absolutely correct about the "Ubi" part.

Thanks, Lannes. I'll be adding more content over time. When I first started working on the site I was spending all of my free time on it (causing my wife a bit of concern). So now I try to balance work, her and the family and some minor medical procedures that apparently someone who enters middle age is required to have. And that was TMI. Never-the-less, I am also open to content and format suggestions from any fellow SubSimmer - so if you have any - don't hesitate.
(That means you, too, Neal, Steve, etc.) ![]()
