Default Where's the Luftwaffe?

Early April, 1943. We sail into Lorient without a hitch with a meagre 36k tons.

(Darn that Large Tanker which shrugged off a perfect magnetic hit with seemingly no effect whatsoever )

Leave on our next patrol just 15 days later and we can't go more than 18 hours before "ALARM!" We even tracked a small enemy task force deep within the Bay of Biscay by Metox.

Where is my air cover keeping the Bay clear?!?!

If I ever get my hands on Goering, I'll wring his bloody neck!

We're sorry but the Reichsmarschall has his hands full at the moment.

"Give the Luftwaffle another ring and see if we can get some cover."

*beep* Allo, this is the Luftwaffe. To lick Herr Goering's boots and sing his praises, press or say "1." If you are in the Wehrmacht and require assistance, press or say "2." If you are in the Kriegsmarine and require assistance, press or say "3."

"3."

You have specified you are in the Kriegsmarine. Auf Wiedersehen and good riddance. *click*

But they're always there to steal your kills.

After weeks and weeks of isolation, I actually appreciate their intervention as it helps assure me (immersion wise) that I'm not a one man band fighting the war all by my lonesome.

the only time I've since them turn up is when I was in the Black Sea. They sank a merchant I was on my way to intercept. they may as well not exist for all I have seen of them

They can be viewed at times as being every bit of a conundrum I agree.

I've only seen the Luftwaffe outside of a harbor once, and that was somewhere in the English Channel. I was being harassed by a destroyer, and a Stuka swooped down and blew off most of their deck. Before I could finish it off (the guns were all blown off), another Stuka completed the task.

I've only seen them in action once. Sick of patrolling, I snuck into Plymouth harbour. Having a look around with the periscope, I noticed a Luftwaffe formation approaching the port! I decided to sit back and watch the fireworks. Maybe they would even sink the destroyer anchored there so I could lay waste to the several merchants docked.

They swooped in, attacked and sank two fishing boats then returned, victorious, to France.

I hope someone gave them a medal for that.

I cut the (ragged-edged!) bottom from a can of beans and hung it on their necks with razor wire. Damn flyboys.
