I saw the two parts of it yesterday, it was really impressive.
The most shocking part to me, is that they were "friends" for 10 years before the incident

It's somehow hard to explain, but his outlook on life, his energy, his amazement over being alive and his attitude is something you notice on people who escaped the Grim Reaper by close shave.
You also saw this in the comment section, where some people who had been in similar situations expressed themselves.
