Default Reno Air Race pics 15

Not everything is a racer.

Note the elevation, we're quite high here.

Ready for combat.

The Marines have landed.

They rolled this out onto the ramp and flew injured to the hospital.

View from the infield at Pylon 8, really close to the action. Not open to the public. That is not a telephoto shot, it's 1 to 1.

Small but very fast F 1 racer

Excellent shots. Too bad about the accident. I love that Corsair.
and those F-1's must be incredibly zippy.

Man, I have got to get back to Reno one of these years. It is the best airshow around.

Sure the warbirds in the Unlimited races are the big attraction, but I really love those little Formula Ones too. Those planes are designed and built in garages and personal hangars, just for love of flying and racing. Love 'em.

Didn't know there was a two seat Skyraider.

Wow, that Skyraider is very impressive indeed! Lovely picture there. Good to see that the Huey was put to good use too after the tragic accident. She's a good workhorse, and still helping to save lives.

Nice shots. I like the early P40.

I'm pretty sure that's a Hawker Sea Fury.

It appears there were a few models with more than one seat for AEW or ECM duties.

Actually that's the A-1E (originally AD-5), and it has four seats, not two. Out of a total of 3180 Skyraiders, 212 were AD-5s and a further 239 were AD-5N night attack variants.
