Default Identification

Hello all I am trying to get used to SH5 and have been stuck trying to hit something with my torps for a few days, even after watching the tutorials! Anyway my question is how do I get the WO to automatically ID the target ship? My mods are German Language Pack, MO + Patch, New TDC, IRAI, and New UIs TDC (TDW). I am trying to make firing as easy as I can while I learn but am unable to get the WO to ID my ships. The option to ID the ship is grayed out in the task bar along with the Solution button. I am attacking a convoy in the dead of night and it is WAY too dark to attempt ID with the SOAN. Any tips would be great!

You could try my ingame tutorials. many use auto target id by the weps

The fast90 tutorial one is an easy way to manually target ships.

In your TAI options (the minimap to the bottom left, there's a round button for options), select 'round numbers on torpedo track'. Align the matching numbers and fire.

Or.. lock the target in the periscope view. Keep your 'crosshair' in the centre of the target. Unlock the target and the full information will appear in TDWs UI dials - speed, AOB, everything (except identification) - and then fire. The last will hit almost every time unless the target evades, same for the first - it just requires a bit more time to align the target properly.

Either of these should help in the interim while you learn the more... complicated methods.

Thank you both I will give the second one a try first I must have missed the options button but I'm going to try to avoid the number line up thing as that looks absolutely horrid lol. On another subject I'm still getting a bit of lag while running the anti lag at 50 max I think? Any suggestions on that? Maybe I will give trevally's mods. Thanks guys
