Default Returning to active duty

Hi
I've just thrown out my trusty battered PC (Windows XP) and bought myself a NEW shiny super spec one
As a seasoned SH3 GWX kapitan (SH4 just didnt cut it for me, lasted 2 weeks before trade-in) SH5 was the next obvious purchase.
The advanced graphics my new pc offer have made GWX even better
I loaded SH5 and it looks brilliant but having a quick look round these forums, it could be better
A few tips and words of advice from veteran SH5 plyers would be welcome
Happy Hunting

Welcome Maddysad,

I would first patch SH5 to 1.2. Then mod it! If you take a look at my signature I have the mods I run with all the links if you want to give them a try.

I also recommend using TDWs UI mod using enhanced SH5 layout. It takes some time to get used to the keys, but its much better imho. Another important mod is Trevallys Open Horizons II.

Thanks guys

Installed Open Horizons and TDW UI Looks and sounds a lot better
The Russian convoy was too good to miss as a single mission
I'll go through your list Mia but can you suggest anything that gets rid of speech bubbles and ship "ENERGY" bars

There is a setting somewhere to turn them off. I don't have them but remember I did at one time. Maybe check your options in game? Ship damage meter.

It's under gameplay, un-check 'Ship Damage Meter' in the bunker or it won't save the setting. Speech bubbles needs a mod to fix - 'No Damn Bubbles, No Damn Halo' I think its called, but Magnum Opus will also remove them.
