Hey there guys.
I`ve been searching these forums for a manual torpedo plotting tutorial, with no luck. My game settings are 69% realistick, meaning I have external wiev and map updates on. I allso modded my game for the first time, and made myselfe hit nothing with me fishes ![]() ![]() ![]() So if there is some kind of tutorial here, can someone please post me a clicky? Thanks. EDIT: And when I was done typing this, I went back for another search, and found what I needed. Sorry for the spam. Last edited by Whos-Your-Daddy; 09-03-11 at 05:58 PM. |

Have you tried Trevally's excellent tutorials in game added to the TDW new UI's mod?
FYI this covers manual TDC and mapping for torps and salvos given a specific type of approach known as 'Fast90'. Hopefully Trevally will gift the community with other methods (documented by others) in the future ![]() If you want a PDF guide I think there is one in the SH4 forum though the interface is of course different but the theory sound. |

![]() But If I make my nav. officer estimate the speed, how long time should I have him go at it, and is his calculation relyable? And I allso notised that the angel on bow dont update as the targeted ship moves closer, is this a glitch? Range: Stadimeter is used by aligning the bottom of the target's mirror image to the top of the target. This is just awesome ![]() Howerver, do I need a 100% identification of the target to get the range right? I wont lie, I have problems with the identification. And i figure if I dont get it right, the mast hight wont be correct, and the range is incorrect. I watch Stoianm video and he brought up a book for identification. I dont have that book, I only have small pictures to rotate through. How do i get the book up? ![]() Thanks. |

You do need a 100% ID for stadimeter to work correctly. Reason is the stadimeter is dependent on mastheight. Correct mastheight is only achieved when correct ID is made of target. The book you are referring to is SOAN. To view it: click on the charts icon in the top right lower bar. You'll notice a little brown tab sticking out of the upper left hand side of your screen when you do. Left mouse click and hold and drag to middle of screen. Select unit type and click cover to open ![]() |

No problems mate ![]() I don't use the nav officer to check speed very often, but from memory it needs several minutes. The more you check the more accurate his estimate will be. Not sure about AOB not changing as the ship moves.. it should. I think I may have had this before and the only solution was to manually enter it again until it registered properly. Make sure in the TDC options you've not got it set to 'from my periscope'. Someone more experienced might have better advice. ![]() The identification book is in TDW's New UIs mod, default hotkey to show it (and the other extras) is E. There's also a button for it in the GUI, on the top-right if using the mod. As to accuracy depending on mast height, I'm not sure.. inaccurate identification will change the range but I don't know how much deviation would be introduced and thus how it would affect a target plot over increasing range. Take your time with identification (I believe somewhere in the crew UI, again using TDW's UIs mod that there's a command/button to identify target - might help you learn the ships) and get as close as you dare before taking your shot ![]() Others will no doubt have more advice. Trial and error is your best way forward from here - see what works for you ![]() |
