Moin,

was meinst Du mit "selbstgemixtes modell" ?

Maddy

Beautiful. I always wanted the "Indianapolis" for Silent Hunter - this is a good stand-in because they would have looked almost identical.

Hi Maddy,

Regards the mod you made to the hanger sides:

I'm using Google translate for this next as my German is very poor!

Es gab keine Verkleidungen under the gun Wannen.

(In English: There weren't any fairings under the gun tubs. What you see in the photo of the Indianapolis are actually shadows cast by the guntubs as the photo was taken in strong sunlight. The sides of the hanger were completely flat with no fairings.

If you are OK with some feedback, the model is accurate for the Indianapolis prior to her last refit. For the Portland, you should shorten the forecastle so it terminates just in front of the funnel. The Indy was fitted as a flagship, so she had a longer forecastle to provide accomodation for an Admiral and his staff.

Another difference is that the Portland had a slightly higher formast as well.

As for the model as is, if you remove the fairings, then remove the port catapult (but leave the tower in place), you'll have the Indianapolis as she was when sunk.)

Hope that helps!

It's good model!

Mike.

Any chance we could see two versions of this class, including an early war version around 1942? In my opinion Portland and Indianapolis looked even better with their bridge windows intact. You could, of course, give a disappearance date in their cfg file that corresponds to their first major refit. SH4 badly needs 1942 versions of most American BB's and CA's.

Anyway, excellent job on a hard to model ship!

I have made the pre refit versions of the New Orleans, Portland and Pensacola. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=186531

Hello Maddy!

Great model

Do not mind the forecastle lenght; that changed with time also on the Northamptons (partly due to an attempt to reduce top weight). We cannot build ship in all phases of their carreers (I tried with the Leander Class and ended up with 4 separate models ...). Just go for what you like best. That'll do!

Cheers -- the Frog
