What do I need for the best SHIII experience?

I've read some of the threads and stickys. I've noticed that the SHIII developement team actually uses the features of mods and puts them into the update patches. That's great. But it leaves me to ask this question:

As of today, what mods should I add to a fresh install patched to v.1.4 for the best SHIII experience?

RgR...that i have Creative 5.1 It comes with 5 speakers....
