Can you get promoted to Captain?

Hi Guys,

Just started playing silent hunter 3 stock again. I seem to remember you can get promoted to Lieutenant Snr, however does anybody know if you can get promoted to Captain in stock SH3? If so how much renown do you need?

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Lieutenant Senior is the equivalent to the German Kapitanleutnant, which sounds like Lieutenant Commander, which was the usual rank of US sub skippers, but according to the comparison charts is actually equal to a full lieutenant. The next ranks up were Korvettenkapitan and Fregattenkapitan, which have no US equivalent.

The fact is that by the time you reach Captain you'll either be in command of at least a cruiser or commanding a squadron. Either way you wouldn't be on a submarine anymore.
